02 June, 2011
The HTC Sensation, which was promised to boast the company's unique unibody design might not have it after all. The first live photos and videos that surfaced clearly show that the back panel of the...

i think back panel is only unibody design.. if it all covers up to the front? how will you remove the battery? we don't want this product to be like an iphone.. having non replacing battery.. which means if your battery dies.. it goes along with your phone..

It IS unibody. When the back cover is removed, it is not only the 'back' that is removed. The sides and parts of the front are removed as well. Therefore, when it is removed, what's left is just the screen in front.

This is not whether HTC use plastic crap (which obviously they don't), but regarding that aluminium case is unibody or not!

Your statement showed you never own a HTC phone.

Pls watch carefully. The Left photo is upside down. And if you compare with the back side photo, you will figure out how it's assemble with the plastic part of the battery cover. HTC has changed the unibody part from middle frame to the battery cover.Nothing more...

Come on everyone, HTC samsung, sony, lg and the rest are know for shit quality phone designs, plastic crap, nobody does quality hardware like nokia, look at the e7, and n8, they are of high qaulity designs, and metals. I hope n9-01 has similar materials and upcoming windows 7 nokia phones.

As said above, everything from the tiny border around the screen to the back all the way around the phone is one piece. The picture that illustrates the article shows on the right the exact same thing that you see on the left, except for the plastic parts. I don't understand the confusion here. Were you expecting the screen glass to be welded to the rest of the shell to call it unibody???

AnonD-9985, 03 Jun 2011this phone is out in vodafone shops in ireland at the momen... moreAre u f...ing kidding me? Engadgets posts such quick reviews because they are amateur reviews compared to GSMarena`s review. Gsmarena posts every aspect at the phone , at every smartphone reviewed, but engadget writes a 5 minute ( in reading time) long review on some smartphones and an 1 hour long review on others (for example: iphone4). PLus , show me another site where you can exactly compare smartphones cameras capabilities ( photos and videos) like you can do here on gsmarena.

Don`t listen to people like this GSMarena, I for one ( and i`m sure that the majority of your loyal readers) am willing to wait 4,5 days even a week or two.. for a review from you just because i know that here i can find the most indepth and detailed review of any phone i want. So in the end , what is the most important is the QUALITY of the review , not the time it takes to write one.
PS: Gsmarena editors, if you are reading this, i think it would be a great idea if you would also post along with your current style of review, a video review of the phone ( in english of course). Keep up the good work !

I think it is talking about the middle part that looks like detachable ?
Obviously the "unibody" doesn't go round to the front, but I think the "backcover" goes under that middle part, you can tell in slashgear photo, there's a hold in the middle showing it. You can see the photo of this phone on other sites like Ph???Arena and you can tell from the outside view it is a unibody backcover.

I think someone rushed to come to conclusions here! Did you, GSMArena, notice that the back panel on the left photo is upside down? Which means that it is exactly like the "unibody" shown on the image on the right..

Or did I misunderstood something here?

P.S.: Just like others, I am also disappointed for haven't gotten YOUR review on the Sensation yet, while almost every other phone site out there have already provided a review..

I'm actually curious what kind advantages a unibody design brings to a phone... anyone care to explain? Can you replace the battery on your own?

Anonymous, 03 Jun 2011Yupz, clearly unibody. You can perhaps remove the internals... moreYeah, the design is definitely unibody. The so-called 'back panel' incorporates all the outer surfaces of the phone, save for the glass-covered LCD panel and capacitive buttons. One might argue that the Sensation is definitely not as 'unibody' (is that a valid expression?) as the HTC Legend for instance, but it still is a unibody construct, even though HTC seems to only loosely imply it is the case with the Sensation.
