The Essential.
Bad optimized system (a huge disapointment coming from andy)
Expensive piece of hardware
Essential had all the hardware but the lack of a true heat dissipation made the phone one of the warmest on the market
No headphone jack which is essential
All in all it's a good phone, a good project but what i think, people were scared by the price they asked, equivalent to a google pixel, samsung s8, LG G6, etc...
Oneplus 5 is the most expensive oneplus device yet but way cheaper than the essential and it's one of the best optimized devices around, it has dash charge, better battery life, amoled display for that extra juice and more features.

andy rubin should have joined hands with samsung to improve tizen os or he should have joined with amazon to improve fire OS or built a new android OS from ground up

Obviously launching it on single carrier in single country which is as well ruled by apple is not great idea, $700 is very high price for completely new phone and finally even if it would be available for me to buy in UK, I won't buy it because.... it doesn't have 3.5mm jack - just plainly for stupidity of blindly copying stupid apple ideas.

It launched on SPRINT... seriously? What a joke, no wonder they only sold 5000. The Launched it on the smallest, slowest and worst post paid carrier in the us.

S8 -I often found- it reloads many if not most of the background apps eventually. You basically end up doing less with your Samsung during the day because a part of it is loading screens, especially if you game a lot (those loading screens are harrowing)...

Portability: Smaller than all 2017 flagships , faaar smaller than S8+ (143.6 x 70.9 vs 159.5 x 73.4 )
Performance: It's especially pronounced on Apple phones. Unlike most androids they don't slow down with time. The SoC itself is almost twice (!) as fast as Qualcomm's in CPU tasks , excellent ram retention. Very rarely do Apple phones reload apps. In the long term the difference in night and day
Camera: According to Dx0 Mark it's a class of its own (if it uses i8's camera).
Screen: 5.8 inches w/t turning the phone into a phablet (I think it's the only who managed that, even LG G5 is bigger). Also AMOLED + Apple's callibration means that we stand to get the best picture quality of 2017...
So yes this is the first Apple to be 1st in *all* major categories. They used to 2nd, 3rd or 4th in at least one of them. iPhone X is the first iphone to top all charts often by a significatn amount. That's a first!
Note 4 was like that ... but like I said Samsung doesn't care ... they're much more occupied with Korean scandals and stuff...

Uh, my. And their you go, marketing strategy to make them hurry buy nothing but another iphone that has nothing more then other iphones besides nothing. Iphones 7, same strategy, oh, we need more hardware, oh, we have problem supplying, but in german stores, they were NEVER out of stock. Never. At the end, it was selling less then others, and this releases might just be the same;). Even though drapple's strategy is to push them x devices to already apple isers and them 8 devices to new people that magically discovered how much fester "iphones are". Ain't gonna happen.

I do not care what company i**s this days support by buying their merchandise, but to see them fanboys coming here with this type of fairytale is annoying. Don't worry, samesung is not far from grapple. Their strategy is to never update the devices they release. Everyone's happy. The mass of ignorant will buy further, more garbage, more money. Ain't ignorant life the best? Yes it is.

Autonomy- shouldnt be much better(if not eorse) than most competitors.
-screen size/image quality-there are rivals with better screen to body,and also image qc will be easily contested by the top few.
-portability-.... not sure what you mean by that(its bigger than the sgs8+ for example)
Performance- always a strong point for Apple,but these days all flagships are super fast,so I find this to be not so decisive./camera-also... slight edge here,slight minus there.
Dont get me wrong,your point is valid... but the X isnt the only "complete" phone out there.Mostly the preference iOS/android will play a role than anything else.

Apple is nice but simply overpriced for discerning buyers. For every day use, it's overkill. Their is no wow factor that stands out to make a call, get a text and enjoy browsing above other flagships to warrant 1.5 thousand dollars in Oz. For essential, very nice too, had no idea on breakage and the carrier exclusive can hurt sales. For me, I'll look forward to seeing what Pixel and Nokia 9, coming soon have to offer. Legendary build quality.

Also with 256GB and 512GB options (soon) , removable sd card is redundant for 99% of the users. Those are niche features.
People care about 4 things first and foremost.
Screen size/image.
Portability
Autonomy
Performance (camera and app performance)
Iphone X seems to nail all 4. Sure there maybe individual players that are better at those individually, but never all 4 at once and never by a big margin.
Iphone X is the only phone in 2017 to be top on all the major categories. Samsung used to do such feats (remeber Note 4?) but then gave up ...

Comparing a newborn company to apple just makes it clear how ignorant you are. I'd rather compare it to oneplus. The essential already launched as a broken device, and consumers know it. Why would you spend an insane amount of cash on a broken device when there is oneplus 5 which is cheaper and just better overall.
The sales are low because this is a piece of overpriced hardware with an extremely buggy UI that didn't captivate as many people as Andy imagined.
For that price you can buy the Google Pixel, come on...

IE, back comes off, battery flies out. You then put it back together! All this premium materials b*ll*cks for an item you keep for no more than 2 to 3 years max.
