Apple iPhone 4S preorders break AT&T record

The thing I envy iPhone fans (I am not one of them), is that their phones haave maximal value for at least 12 months and slightly reduced value for another 12 months, while all along their phones are well taken care of by Apple in terms of firmware maintenance and upgrades as well as applications.
However, in spite of the above, if I had an iPhone, I would miss live widgets and customizable home screens, it would bother me a number of restrictions and high dependency on iTunes and network providers. When I summon up pluses and minuses, iPhone is not worth to me more than a half of the price than what it is offered for. In fact, even if it costs as half as much, I would not chose it. Simply, even though a good device, it is not for me, plus, not worth the money it costs.

On Oct.4th I bought the Samsung Galaxy S2, beautiful phone, but Android is not my thing. So I'm gonna return it and stick with my jailbroken iPhone 4.

It's clearly show how bad ergonomy galaxy s2 screen have. Apple doesn't make big screen because everyone else doing, apple put bigger screen if they think it's good choice.
I think many many was happy to hear iPhone is still small smartphone and not going bigger like everyone else. I mean almost every smartphone in the market are HUGES, thank god apple didn't do that, i'm not surprised if others are going back to smaller phones in future too. They only harm themself with these huge phones if they want to keep up with Apple sells.

AnonD-6077, 09 Oct 2011I don't know in what way I was supposed to be generalising ... moreIf we are going to talk about apps in iOS vs android... then we cant forget to mention that since the android market is unsupervised and there is no approval process the marketplace contains some crap that is not present in the iOS app store. From my experience using android I have encountered a great deal of duplicate apps... apps that one person developed and someone else more or less "ripped" it... basically a stolen app. Add to that the sheer number of porn apps where all they contain are images of naked people.... no offense but that is hardly an app. And add to that large list the number of apps that are nothing more than "themes" and buttons. There are none of these themes and buttons in iOS because the theme isn't customizable (doesn't really need to be). While iOS does have background apps, so does android. So once you eliminate the fluff... android still falls pretty far behind. And lets not even get into the number of malicious apps present in the android market. Ugh!

[deleted post]Completely agree with you except that the N8's camera doesn't suck. It's 12mp camera IS a very good camera. It remains to be seen if the 4s camera will beat it. I have the N8 and have always been able to take amazing photos that truly rival the big expansive devices. The pixel density is still considerably greater than the iPhone's is. But I'm not at all dissing the iPhone camera. It appears to be quite awesome and I am anxiously waiting to see if it will indeed dethrone the N8, or at least give it a run for it's money. The iPhones camera is, however, probably the best 8mp camera on the market.

AnonD-25632, 09 Oct 2011Crazy stuff and i never understand what is in IPhone which ... moreWow u are a very misinformed person..iphone is the only mobile that has apps for its dual core processor it has the biggest app store in the world...then the 8mp camera has the most advanced lens and camera sensor tht beat nokia n8s 12mp hands down...mega pixels is nothing if the camera sucks..and wow dude there hasnt been any kind of voice recognition software anywhere in the world like siri..yes every phones have voice recognktion but siri has a AI..artificial intelligence!!have u seen star trek halo or mass effect knight rider where they talk to the computer and the computer does everything for them??its like that no other voice software comes close to siri!!wow dude u must be living under a rock for the last few years!!

There is enough new about this device that it really makes that video seem pathetic. As for the android comparisons... Lame! Siri has been in the app store for quite some time and none of the android apps that do the same thing are anything special. Especially considering you can get vlingo for iOS as well. Btw... The retina display at 3.5" is still easier on the eyes than any 4" AMOLED display.

Siri is not just voice control, that has existed for years, even in dumbphones. Until now however, it has mostly been only about 'accepting' voice instructions.
Siri is a deeply integrated personal assistant within the iPhone system. It is:
1. Deeply integrated in the iPhone system wide, so it can span several apps at once, to achieve a single task
2. It does not just accept literal instructions, it also 'understands' context even when asked an indirect question, such as "do I need an umbrella today?"

Crazy stuff and i never understand what is in IPhone which others do not have in their devices dual core 1-Mhz chips and 8MP camera market already have tons of devices for past one year so i should say iPhone is one year late actually IPhone is a show off in 3.4 inch screen and for many peoples siri (voice command) is amazing thing and they don’t even know if it is about a 10 years old technology into windows mobiles and every android phone have it.
i think future is 5" + screens tablet + phone and it is a great idea and like Dell and Samsung already into it

This is weird..... it is almost the same as Iphone 4 - no increase in the screen size....no changes in the design or whatsoever.. and people would buy it. It seems to me that despite the crisis consumerism is still rollin'

ra535i, 09 Oct 2011iphone 4s is the natural progression for their product line... moreBro samsung already dropped official support for last years galaxy s the last 3 gingerbread updates that came for galaxy s had to be downloaded from third party websites and had to be installed with third party software instead of samsung kies...galaxy s2 is already 6 months old so i guess it will get official updates from samsung for the next 6 months only...

cpk, 09 Oct 2011Yea, sgs 2 battery only lasted me 12 hours even if the scre... moreiphone 4s is the natural progression for their product line. to say that they named this device the 4s to save face is LUDICROUS!! secondly, I just want to point out something to everyone that seems to hate on apple's products. I own a 3gs, and will continue to do so because my phone is STILL, relevant and will be able to run IOS' latest and created iOS 5. I challenge you to see if you sgsII will still be relevant in 2 years. As a matter of fact I'll guarantee that Samsung will drop "customized" support for your device. Apple has an uncanny ability to prolong their older devices for their loyal users. So for now i'll be holding onto my 3gs till the "iPhone 5" comes out because unlike 80-90 percent of all other manufacturer users, I still receive relevant updates and support for my device 2 yrs strong...
