I am using Nokia Smartphones from 2006 my first handset was 6600 and i used it for few months and unfortunately it was stolen! I lost that phone and after 5 years i bought C6-01. The 1st generation Symbian^3 handset and i updated from sym^3 to anna but the OS was not so good. And the browser and gallery function didn't work properly. I waited for another os update and now it is symbian belle. Is belle really good than anna? I have a doubt and thats why i have not yet updated. Please help me and suggest me about the new belle OS.

But who are you referring to? Nokia are the market leader. (And even on Symbian alone, it's always outsold Apple's entire phone sales.)
It's annoying that people have bought into the Apple press-release of comparing raw application counts - do Microsoft brag about how many millions of apps there are for Windows? The Apple count is vastly inflated by all the website-wrapper "apps" that every other website seems to offer. But anyone with a proper smartphone can just use the website. This also tells us nothing about quality or diversity - why is a platform with 10 fart apps better than one with just 2? As you say, even "just" 100,000 is more than anyone could download.
Any decent app I need, I've managed to find it for Symbian (e.g., the very excellent Swype - the only comparisons for Apple are so poor, you have to first type in the text, then copy and paste it to where you want the text to go!)
There is also the point that for Apple, you can only download from their "app store", where as on smartphone platforms like Symbian, you can download from anywhere. Indeed, this would explain the slower uptake - Nokia had to compete with long established already existing download portals. For Android, the Google store was in there from the start, and for Apple, they didn't allow any competition.
I don't see why it matters that this count includes multiple platforms - after all, we're comparing *stores* not platforms. If we were comparing platforms, then the software available for Symbian is more than that available on just Nokia's Ovi store.

Why this is important, if Symbian is DEAD, better change to windows marketplace.
Sorry but nokia is FULLY wrong and DEAD, i will buy today my android, not so open but yet more open than WP7 and IOS.

well its the same conclusion with a market and even with iphone 3g you cant get every app but i guess this proves that windows phone is not a choice and that symbian shouldent be killed!

I don't own a Nokia but even if i'd own one i'd say same thing. I could be fooled by a marketing campaign or a design if I want to but I'm not idiot or blind to never see the bads. If you compare Apple Store/ Android Store with Something Store that makes you a hater ... or stupidly unfair or blind.

Well this is a unfair comparison as with android and nokia store the app quantity limit reach time used is from 0 apps to 100,000 where for apple app store the time taken is stated from 50,000 to 100,000 which is half the app quantity! Hence this is unfair comparison and unfair to nokia and android store!

For Nokia, regarding Apps long way to go if we compare with Apple and Android. But still it seems Nokia will fight back with good smartphones in the market.

It's good that you love your symbian... I don't. But I love my Android, and now my WP7 which I started using via the HTC Radar I bought a week ago. Havn't tried iOS yet but it looks ok to me too.

Lumia is just like any another Windows phone with the Nokia sticker pasted on it. What have we seen from Windows all the way to 6.5 that will make us believe 7 will beat iOS or android? So far, it's just lots of new bells and whistles. Symbian still has a lot of potential and a loyal market comfortable with the OS. Nokia going any other way, whether it's Meego or Windows (or even open-source android) means it's a new phone yet to prove itself. A 5-8 year Symbian user is forced to start learning again from scratch.

I stopped using Nokia a few years ago but I'm planning to go back because of the Windows Phone 7 Lumia line. So I wonder how much of the 100K apps is accessible with the Lumia WP7 phones?
