BlueHeart the illest, 08 Feb 2012I agree, a think microsoft is paying him under the table to... moreI don't think so. There's a lot of factors that made Symbian unappealing to both devs and users. It's fragmented, with so many versions of Symbians and also different firmwares for each model, not to mention different aspect ratio. That, and the N97 sealed Symbian's fate, making it look crap when compared to iOS. It's hard to change that perception to the masses since the N97 was Nokia's ''In-your-face'' flagship at the time. Plus, a lot of users are finding WP7 to be looking pleasing and fun to use.

This is quite sad, rough times for the sacked workers. I guess this is the price of transition, but if it meant survival of the company, so be it. They could've at least offered an alternative. I don't expect lower quality models, but the ''Made in China'' syndrome can be quite strong. I hope Nokia enforces their rules strongly to maintain their phone's quality.

Phone Addict, 08 Feb 2012Nokia need to sack Stephen Elop ASAP! He is killing a once ... moreI agree, a think microsoft is paying him under the table to make Windows the only OS and Nokia is caught in the cross fire. Symbian was really looking up and then he just squashes it. all they needed to do was get more app developers.

It really doesn't matter where the phone is made but what is important is how the phone is built. iPhone for all you know had "Made in China" but no one talks about it because it has Apple brand powering it. So it the phone has a good built quality and has a software that can do things you want your phone to do, it will be the best phone ever. Feel sorry for all the people who will lose jobs. Hope Nokia comes up with an alternative instead of removing them from jobs.

That's a really sad note to hear they moving smartphone production primarily to China.... Atleast I have my N8 made in Finland And still very happy with it. It's been my experience that China's quality has been dismal to say the least. I've had N97 previously 'made in China' with endless hardware malfunction to the point that the handset became beyond economical repair! And not covered under warranty! That seriously infuriated me. The next phone to infuriate me was the C6 also made in China. Endless dropped calls And system reboots. Had the phone at Nokia repair center And they said it was firmware which they upgraded And the reason for the dropped calls was the antenna which they replaced. Alas that did not solve the problems yet it did happen at a less frequent interval. I've had a series of Nokia handsets over the years which are all still fully functional except for these 2 I've mentioned made in China.... So I made a point to steer clear of all their handsets made in China. It would seem I May have to leave Nokia in future if they don't manufacture in Finland any longer.....
