Some arrogance is expected from biggies. Apple and Microsoft are yet to come to terms with success of Google, Samsung etc. So, they are taking shortcuts and starting litigation in various countries. Microsoft is unable to do anything big in past few years so trying to snatch from other companies who are innovating and threatning MS's existence.

This is what I don't understand how can you sue a company and then offer patent licensing? If I was Samsung I would tell Apple GTFO!

this is becoming, well let's be polite: boring. It's like your new brother is born and you start messing around in the house to re-get your parents' attention. there's a simple solution for apple: drop the prices and make new phone models. but i guess they don't even think about it.

This is insulting Android. Nowadays, Android is the biggest operating system used in the whole world.
Never pay that fake patent, Android don't be fooled!
Every shape are allowed to be made by everyone.

Anonymous, 08 Mar 2012Apple asking for royalties from Moto and Samsung? Did they ... moreExactly my opinion. What would Apple do if all those companies started to ask royalties from every single technology Apple is now using in their devices? Apple is getting afraid of everyone who can compete and creating better things than they have "innovated".

Vikas, 07 Mar 2012Apple has redefined the Touchscreen phone's standard & ... moreThis is priceless. O.K. they redefined. So what? There were no touchscreen devices before? There were no design with rounded corners? You guys are dumb, seriously. And all those patent suits. This is getting ridiculous and boring allready.

You can clearly understand the greediness, and how desperate Apple is to overtake Android.

AnonD-23574, 07 Mar 2012Now this poses for an interesting question. The interface o... moreI think the judge said - "Apple cannot get patent-like protection for the idea of a graphical user interface, or the idea of a desktop metaphor"
So, like you said based on what happened with that particular Apple, Microsoft spat, I don't think that apple has any enforceable patents that can do any serious harm to android as such. unless they try to to say that whilst touch screens have been around for years, nobody thought of actually touching the blooming things until Apple came along :-)

Apple asking for royalties from Moto and Samsung? Did they pay royalties to inventor of Touch Screen, Mobile Network, RAM, Muilti-core processors, Market place, Wireless Data? C'mon apple is not even the pioneer in the field of Mobile or Smartphone, Moto invented mobile, smart phone pioneer by Nokia/Palm and Microsoft. HTC have long been making WinMo devices back in 2002 where were apple at that time?

Soon Samsung and Motorola will overcome these things in the future with new Devices and new OS.Most people think apple is so ultimate but it runs the same UNIX as Android,Ubuntu and the rest.Wake Up.

Looks like Apple wants to rule the world with their too expensive devices that a Third World Country can't buy. They're not connecting people, but only the rich.

                              Nokia reigned from 1995-2007

                              Apple reigned from 2007-2010

                              Android 2010-present

Apple can't win in the long run. Android already dominates the smartphone market and soon will overtake them in the tablet space too. They can sue all they want but will be of little consolation when they become a niche product.

Apple doesn't innovate they produce a baseline by which every company can easily look on, beat in almost every way, and rest at the way side of innovation due to their greedy closed end ideals. Everyone else has seen that there is dual edged optimism in an open environment, both for prompt updates and feature enhancements to those who are not so savvy and software flexibility for those who are.

if Apple offer iOS licensing to Samsung, then it`s big news and cool. but if only useless patent licensing, then only a fool will accept that offer

Ain't it a bit late for this, Apple? When things don't go your way, you decided to sue them. But when that becomes tedious and tiresome, and costly, you finally want to play the licensing game?!

Are all the i(diot)Judges from around the world reading this?!
