Its really unfortunate for me and the folks using windows phone 7.5 not to get a software update to apollo. I was eyeing on this update for quite a while as it will eliminate the shortcomings which exist in 7.5 version. But now seems a bad news for everyone who is runing windows 7.5.

AnonD-1319, 18 Apr 2012Hmmm poor updates on Galaxy s? Can you tell me how many upd... moreSo you are satisfied with the update of Samsung Galaxy S right?
Then why they don't provide the official ICS for their former Flagship and these days also their Galaxy S sale like the Flagship (at the view of price I mean)!

And if you take the example of Nokia then they do the fantastic job, like N8 upgrade to the Anna and even they provide official BELLE update for their former Camera King And that is the main different between Samsung and Nokia! By the way Samsung Galaxy S is very good with Gingerbread and I am not so much curious about ICS , but atleast they have to provide options for official ICS because it has capabilities to handle ICS if they optimize little bit!

And as I said before I am not the diehard fan of any mobile co. but you can't denied the truth ,do you?

Lumia phones that are on the market today will get update to 7.6. But they will NOT get update to WIN 8. This hardware is just to slow for it. You can aks Nokia support or FB page, if they are saying different it is just for marketing purpose. You will see in 6 months. And BTW that really sucks, I still prefer android and XDA without Sense and Touchwize and shit like that.

blueglue, 18 Apr 2012What DSN VERY CLEARLY explained is the endless possibility ... moreI know rooting is the freedom in Android by developers.(owner of Samsung galaxy Ace duos) But so many peoples depend on the OEMs. Many of them scared to do rooting. Most of them are not so techy expert, to do rooting. So a update officialy from OEMs is always a bonus point. And XDA developers might also work on WP platform, when it will became more popular like Android.

all wp users dont get urself fucked up. nokia will definitely be updating lumia devices to next gen Apollo as they got no options rather the same. the 710, 610 may be excluded by 900& 800 will surely be getting it. if they dont they will R.I.P themselves by own. so cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrs & get smoked by wp.

Even if the article's title is already updated, it's still misleading. Bad journalism. Dissapointing.

My HTC will have been released for two years by the time Apollo came out... Won't be rises if they don't support it. But they should be supporting the lumias, if they are smart about it.
I am sure all that secrecy is because they are planning on dropping support for some of them (1st Gen)

blueglue, 18 Apr 2012How did you confirm this is a paid by Google? got any proof... moreHey buddy , what's the problem with you! What did I said that Any capable Windows phone by Nokia should be upgraded to windows Apollo! now see GSM arena update their info! And for your second confusion let me clarify you I am giving the example of Samsung Galaxy S as the example of poor Software update by Samsung ; I didn't say it's the windows phone!

And I said that before windows phone by samung like Omnia e.g. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_omnia_w_i8350-4200.php may be won't upgraded to latest Apollo version!
Before comment anything , read others opinion carefully I am not the diehard fan of anything, but I hate bad information like GSMArena published before( now they update it though).

blueglue, 18 Apr 2012I doubt MS has any roadmaps for Win 9. Nokia had a chance f... moreNokia should not and will not get android for their devices, if they do that, then there is no point in supporting symbian and meego / maemo devices for so long, also if they do that then it is implied that they have the race in making mobile OSs to someone who has no experience in making phones or mobile OSs(for the record, android was not created by google, it was purchased from some other company by google)

I fully support nokia in not going for android, but I think it would be better if they can handle 2 environments Windows Phone and Meego at the same time.

Meego will definitely help Nokia to get back in market, and Windows Phone...lets just say MS would burn more money to try n create a better platform.

Does anyone have any numbers on the amount of people who root their phones? A survey or something? Everyone here is talking about rooting their phones, but how prevalent is this with average (aka the overwhelming amount of)consumers? Anyone got anything?

Its the freedom for the users to choose what they want and WHEN they want.

that said, WP or iOS users lack the freedom

BTW, what issue did you find with Rooting? (except for it to be individual's choice)
