Anonymous, 19 Apr 2012They are still no. 1 in the philippines. Sure some of us us... moreWhile getting the hype out of iPhones, Blackberrys and HTCs is more than a good enough reason for Filipinos to swap their, let us say, old-age Nokias for these, we still rely on the latter for reliability on top of cost.

Samsung did a good job last year for creating the low-end Galaxy Young which, by the way, has been spreading like virus these past few months (I even got one for free through a cheap postpaid plan).

All the other smartphone manufacturers have to come up with the likes of the Galaxy Y if they are to compete against Nokia in the Philippine soil.

By the way, Mark, former Symbian Ambassador.

this galaxy y on the other hand reminds us that if this wasnt android, the phone is nothing! poor camera, poor battery, poor screen resolution, poor anything, ecept for the os

      thats what many Filipinos missed!

Lumia 610 is priced here in Philippines @ exactly 11,000PHP (unlocked). That's a rough $258 or 197 euro. I think this phone will have a hard time to penetrate the market since some Android phones (Galaxy Y, Mini, Ace) have lower price.

If Lumia 610 is about to be released, why is 710 and 800 are both getting the hype? Lumia 610 will not be exclusively on a single carrier?

not to mention when we say "durability" on mobile phones, Nokia comes first to the minds of my fellow Filipinos, am i right? not Samsung (cheap all-plastic body FTW) and iphone (non-gorilla glass screen for the price is a mess), heck even Motorola ranks higher than Samsung and iPhone when it comes to battery life, durability and antenna/clarity on voice calls

but since Motorola units are limited here in the PH, Nokia still reign supreme!

lets admit, galaxy y is selling like hotcakes here in the philippines due to their blazing fast browsing speeds and affordability..

but you know what? most of my workmates who bought samsung galaxy y (and the xperia mini/mini pro series) found themselves regretting that they bought these phones from their horrid battery life and lack of multimedia functionalities a la N8.

nokia's durability and battery life, i mean BATTERY LIFE was badly missed, mAh rating is one thing, optimization of battery resources is another thing, and that where Nokia excels.. Nokia still rules the Philippine Islands!
