Apple asked adobe to show flash working decent way on iphone and they never showed flash working properly on any touch devices , so apple took a bold step not to support flash and in 2010. They said they support platform called HTML5 clearly said they lost hope in adobe as they never brought flash working on mobile device correctly.

Whoever sides with html5 at this point in time and not with flash is a) not informed or b)a troll.

and you wil see that flash market penetration is 98% as of march 2010.
Look at this :

Also Work on the HTML5 specification began in 2003 and, as of January 2011, the standard was in working draft state. The standard currently contains bugs.[7][non-primary source needed] In 2006, editor Ian Hickson suggested the standard wouldn't be published until 2022.
Also Flash has the ability to specify measurements in sub-pixel increments. This can result in a crisper and generally more pleasant appearance of Flash web sites. When confronted with CSS and HTML measurements on a sub-pixel scale, web browsers will round either up or down, depending on the browser, which leads to inconsistency and unreliability in the display of those pages.

Speaking at Adobe Max, Itai Asseo said that, unlike HTML 5, Flash offers a great way to develop applications that work across platforms. HTML 5, on the other hand, is implemented differently (if at all) by different browsers. Although the Flash browser plugin isn't supported on the Apple iPhone OS, Flash applications can still be exported to Adobe AIR, which does run on that operating system as a native application. In the same talk, Mr. Asseo lamented the return to another browser war (like what was seen in the late 1990s). If Flash falls out of favor, he argues, web developers will have to either (1) develop many different versions of their web sites and native applications to take into account different HTML 5 implementations, (2) deny access to browsers that do not support their version of HTML, or (3) dramatically reduce the functionality of their sites in order to deliver content to the least-advanced browser.

There is an app for that And it is 100% free. !! So u have even better way to enjoy it.
There is no way flash is needed expect lne or two sites where flash is needed and app is not available. so basically content is not missed.
Tonnes of native apps for ipad and iphone which run great.
Isnt that what i said ? Upcoming iphone and windows phone sport hd screens and html5 will be ready by the time they arrive.

To all those saying OMG NO FLASH, SCREW ANDROID I'M CHANGING OVER TO WINDOWS etc, you're either thick and shouldn't be allowed to use a phone or just plain silly, flash is reaching the end of it's lifeline and as many have stated it'd be better for them to use their resources on more modern protocols, the fact that you would ditch an operating system based on a smart decision, well...

Ads can easily be removed by using adblockers, like Adaway on android!

AnonD-9023, 29 Jun 2012Can u state examples where only flash required for a websit... moreYou are absolutely wrong, there is so many website which can't function fully without flash, infact i have problem with a few website while using ipad2 due to uncompatible with flash, even those telco website in my country using flash, android is dealth if there think they can function without full flash, the only reason i stay with android is because of full flash, Android is at risk of loosing their customer without flash, i for one is going over to IOS or Window once andoid ditch flash.

Do u know where i require flash ? Just for Ads and pop ups on corners of websites.
Adobe also knows that flash is only used by porn websites and ad makers while all latest websites are building upon html5.
Why waste time on flash ? Monthly Browser usage says 2/3rd of web browsing on mobile platform takes place on iOS (iPod Touch , iPhone and iPad) and add windows phone to list too now , both of which dont support flash at all.
Those 2/3rd users dont have any problem without flash.
HTML5 is beautiful and has more capabilities than Flash.
HTML5 doesnt stream HD content ? How many phones have screens greater than 720p or atleast 720p screen ? 3 phones or 4 phones ?
Even phones like galaxy s2 or lumia 900 have 480p screens while iphone has 640p screen.
Most of them less than 720p = by definition not HD
This year windows phones and rumored next iPhone come with HD screens and by that time HD streaming will be ready.

Flash has played his role for decades and it's time to end it. Every Mobile operating system, be first Apple, Android and Windows Phone will end flash support.
Wait for WP8 consumer preview and you will get to know what I mean.

Sensible strategy by Adobe. Now when Edge ( Html 5 animation tool ) has been in beta for a year, why waste efforts on Flash.
Adobe realizes that HTML5 is future and there is no point wasting its energy and resources on Flash, when similar effects can be achieved with HTML5.
