Google Play Store might be removing app permissions overview in favor of new Data Safety info

16 July 2022
App permissions might disappear from app listings which doesn't sound great.

Time to considering buying this Motorola DynaTAC 8000X
Noone will ever try to follow you no matter what.
The most user friendly and secure device.

blue, 17 Jul 2022You're really naive believing that. And you're naive believing they do. Imagine saying you're not collecting data and someone finds you do? It's end of your business, including Apple's, no matter how hard people say everyone would still just buy it because it's Apple.

All big tech companies do this. It is what makes them valuable. I don't have anything against Apple specifically. I'm not a fan of iOS, but MacOS is fine. All of these Apple users that think their data is safe because they use iOS are misguided. If you use any service, cookies, operating system with an IP address, service provider, cell tower, etc... You can be identified.

"Committed to follow the Play Family Policies".

That is an unacceptable low bar as that policy is considered unsafe by the EU. There is no guarantee about whom with or where your data is shared in that policy.

Please, wake up! Apple sells user-based data as much as Google.

If phone abruptly dies, all your stuff is lost unless you had it backed up to cloud. With SD card, you just yonk it out and you have all the photos there, which is what most prefer and how I did my photos. Now I just store them in cloud to be sure.

I do all the things I did before, except Google gets pretty much nothing from me.And I'm very much fine with that. It's also difference if Apple collects some data to improve their products opposed to Google who only collects data to serve ads better. Notice the difference? Besides, I have all Apple's stuff turned off and blocking it on my home router as well as per device. Whatever comes through is minimal.

This new feature looks a bit shady although it remains to be seen what they finally bring. iOS, they call it a jail or walled garden but apple's restrictions are actually a great thing for the users since they keep all the viruses, bugs, malware or spyware away from phone. Security on Android seems a bit lax to me. Whereas on iPhones, it's top notch, although not perfect but still miles better than Android. The lack of SD card slot is another thing good about iPhones. No risk of losing data if the phone is ever stolen

SShock, 17 Jul 2022Just the fact iOS isn't made by Google was enough for ... moreEvery company collects your data. Apple is no exception. Just relax and use everything you want unless you want to live in a cave.

I try to avoid apps that require internet, because nowadays even editing apps require internet (just make the app do the work, no need to make me upload my images on your server to work on them!) and so are some games too, where they are appear to be offline but you soon realize that the offline part is not even playable at all sometimes.
What we really need is something like the old days, buy an app (no leeching subs) and use it without internet anytime because you do not have access to it any time.

Also, when registering on any game or other app, they might and probably will give your info to other parties and it spreads. Ever got a strangely accurate spam or ad via email or message? They do that. We need some way to restrict that our data is being handled by that one party we registered on and nothing more.

People are so used to Google's "here's all this cool free s**t" that they are shocked when they need to pay for something. I'm surprised you all don't expect phones to be free too because they have Android which is Google's free OS...

I'm paying for mail service, for cloud storage and photo backup.Because I use services that value privacy and don't have to hoard our data because we pay them directly. Not to mention these services are just better than Apple's or Google's.

Sadly, like everything in Apple's world, nothing is free.

The rest of IOS is just not that appealing and I've always needed to do work arounds even for the simplest tasks. Also, their Photos and File apps feels like 2 generations behind any other simar apps from Android. Not to mention I hate that Apple doesn't implement a back gesture like in Android phones (swipping easily from any part of the screen). Yes, you can swipe from the home tab to go to a previous app, but is not same thing and is not as smooth gesture as in Android phones.
