I feel Sony Xperia S was closest to what you profess, but alas not the top of the line processor.

though, it was impressive how they fitted a 720p screen in 4.3", the same size of Galaxy S2.

hats off for sony for being too early to the market. not a good thing i suppose, but they did get it right back then.

I'm looking for a phone like this as well. :-)

My galaxy s2 is the perfect screen size for a phone in my opinion. It could be compacted a little more. With the screen being edge to edge. :-)

The shortsightedness of Android manufacturers, overlooking the obvious is why iPhone rules the roost. Too busy making this bigger, ending up not giving the customers what they want.

Indeed, I'm never bying something larger than 4.2".
For me the SII is still the perfect size, hope this petition gets noticed.

I think screen size is not bad in actual flagships, 5" maximum to me, but companies must work in make smaller devices in that screen sizes, that's why I bought my Xperia ZL and I love it! because it's so small for 5 inches (smaller than s4) and good post gsmarena! Cheers from Argentina.

Couldn't agree more. I want manufacturers like Samsung and Sony to see this, as it's a genius idea and 4.2" is my favorite screen size. I'll tell everyone I know about this petition.

"Despite the large number of companies committed to the Android cause, there's not a single manufacturer to come up with a handset to match the raw power and display brilliance of the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One or Sony Xperia Z in a shell that's as easy to pocket as, say, the Apple iPhone 5."

This is something ive always wondered. Why Dont they make smaller, more compact phones.? not everybody likes huge screens. Fine, its better to have a bigger screen, but some people (me included) dont like to have a phone the size of a PSP or Nintendo DS in my pocket.

                              My question remains: Why not?

Believe it or not, one of the strong selling points of the iPhone IS how compact it is, so why companies havent come up with an Android phone, compact in size (maybe 4.3 to 4.7) with the power of a flagship phone on the inside?

There's no need for a petition when there's already the Xiaomi Mi2 that complies with all your demands.

it is true. I own a Google Nexus 4, i felt many time, it is very difficult to handle and very large. I think high end phone with 4.2 to 4.5 inch display is very good. Moreover huge phone with huge display are look like a man with zebra's head.
I prefer a good phone with 4.3 or 4.5(Maximum) inch display. I hate the fucking Note series from samsung.

well in my opinion, there are plenty of smart phones with these specs range. and i think Sony has done a great job to work on these mid range smart phone such as, xperia v, xperia sp, xperia L. i would suggest other manufacturers to follow the same.

you petition is quite interesting, but i thing you're forgetting the most important thing: updates, i don't care about super amoled, true hd ips lcd, 4, 6 or 8 cores on CPU/GPU if the software wil waste that power, first we need a operating sistem to get the most out of the hardware, that have updates, not just one (or none) thats why i will not sign the petition yet
