It seems ridiculous but that seems to be the reason as far as I know. I don't know what would happen if companies were to ignore them and supply Huawei. Maybe the US would not allow them to use the US tech but that's a guess? Seems like nobody has disobeyed them so far

tzmkira002, 08 May 2024Question. So, how can the US government dictate who a compa... moreThe US government has 600+ Chinese companies and organizations in the Entity List. Actually most Chinese companies in the list can still import parts with certain limitations from US and ally countries. US companies can apply for license to sell parts and technologies to companies in that list, like what Qualcomm did supplying 4G chipsets to Huawei.

Huawei is in the Entity List since 2019 and has been subjected to stricter and stricter revisions each year, to the point of Huawei being probably the most heavily sanctioned company on that list.

Like others I also wonder why U.S is so afraid of success of the Huawei, one sanction after another makes no sense ah, anyways what doesn't kill you make you stronger, best wishes to Huawei and yeah Apple should be banned in China where they are making billions of dollars every year.

"revokable" exists currently in the English dictionary but no such word as "revokation". Did you mean "revocation"?

All the more reason why they gotta ante up their ARM, RISC-V and MIPS + Linux game and quick.

In terms of resources, Mediatek seems to be the best placed candidate followed by Unisoc and Rockchip, although all 3 are in dire need of each' own GPU solutions moving on forward.

ARM last I've checked is still a British IP. I highly doubt that they'd be able to fend off their American counterparts' pressures soon enough to lock that away too.

All this injustice against Huawei is really not acceptable, the United States always gets high blood pressure from the success of Huawei and sanctions them.

Because ZTE and Huawei sold US tech to Iran when other companies in the world do not buy from USA and resell to Iran, which USA has a sanction against.
If not mistaken this ban has been approved years ago. Intel and Qualcomm had to apply for special permits to sell to these companies. Which was in understanding that it could be revoked anytime soon.

The Chinese foreign ministry did issue a statement saying: "China resolutely opposes the United States overstretching the concept of national security and abusing export controls to suppress Chinese companies without justification".

This won't end well, USA is capable of blocking Xiaomi, BBK and even Lenovo forcing to sell Lenovo back to IBM.

Us is clearly scared of Huawei business.. banning them means making them more stronger as they will not bow down in front of us technologies n they will build there as they have full back up from Chinese government n funding... See what they have done with phones they have surpassed 5 g n running 5.5 g n developed thr own harmony os .. now they will build there own chip for laptops as well.. thumbs down to us cnt face defeat

Don't forget they were on their way to be the biggest phone manufacturer on the planet before they got banned. And as far as I know they're not even banned from selling in the US, just working with US companies. If the US wanted to ban huawei from being in their country at all that would be more understandable from a security and privacy view, than them trying to technologically cripple them. That's why they exert their influence on non-american companies to make sure huawei can't advance too much, like ASML
