Only the sales results will show how successful this model is, it's just a pity that they have a short period between models.
An underrated marketing team that really does a lot.
Sony as always in every niche needs stars from time to time to close losses from failures.
It's true, I'm a bit saddened when sony approaches market trends in terms of screen size, but I think they thought a lot about it and maybe they don't like it either, but for now it's the way it is.

Reasons why 18:9 (2:1) is the perfect aspect ratio:
1 - Two vertical split screen apps become ~1:1
2 - Two horizontal split screen apps are ~1:1
            3 - Smartwatches are already 1:1
4 - Mixed reality headsets already consist of 2 ~1:1 aspect ratios per eye. (Oculus= 0.95 per eye, Valve= 0.9 per eye)
5 - 18:9 Laptops can be just as portable as a 14" laptop & allow for a full sized keyboard & a decently sized trackpad (If we get rid of bezels & speaker grills, which we can now do)
6 - Large 24'' 18:9 Monitors can allow for 8 open 1:1 split screen apps & can be turned vertically for coding. (+ Eliminate the need for Ultra-wide monitors)
7 - 'Oppo Find N' is a well-reviewed foldable with an 18:9 cover screen. Pixel Fold has an ~18:9 cover screen.
8 - 18:9 TVs will have two black bars on each side for Legacy 16:9 content, whereas 21:9 Movies will continue to have two thin black bars on the top & bottom.
            9 - Non-zoomed 18:9 videos perfectly fit Apple's Notch & Apple's Dynamic Island
10 - Youtubers like MKBHD are already producing 18:9 videos
            11 - Samsung made 18:9 smartphones up until S10 series in 2019.
12 - "Univisium is an aspect ratio of 2:1, created by cinematographer Vittorio Storaro to unify all other aspect ratios in 1998."

If the display tech is good enough idm the change in aspect ratio and resolution. I just hope they keep the 5 as their compact "skinny" flagship. They have such a huge possible market now that Asus might be stopping

                    samsung is indeed the best

well, it doesn't have a notch. That's good enough for me 😁

                      screen ratios be damned

also I hope it won't take 4 seconds to shoot a photo like the Xperia 1 V

I'll do more than writing sms and phone calls with it...

Let's go Triple Sony* releases a 6.8 panel, an Ultra version of the Xperia

DashF, 13 May 202418:9 was the love I couldn't agree more.

I have been using LG V30 for the past 6 years, which has 18:9 aspect ratio, and the proportions are perfect! It is now in use as a secondary phone, having bought Pixel 6a around 1.5 years back as the primary phone, but even after all this time I still haven't gotten used to 20:9, which I find to be a bit too narrow.

Remember when Sony phones were globally launched?
                                      I miss Xperia in the Middle-east. :(
