to all you haters out there, even though apple is releasing a cheap iphone it will probally be better than any other budget manufacture handset. how many budget manufacture phones are out there samsung,htc,blackberry,nokia,sony they all got cheap handsets,really cheap handsets. (all other manufactures dont count coz ur crap false stop) and considering its apple it will sell regardless so dont hate but appriciate :)

There has been only one model with the "S" extension till date and as I understand, it's related to a new feature. Till date, Apple always has an intermediate update and new release. Intermediate update version name is normally related to a new key feature; like 3g when the network option was introduce OR 4s when Siri was introduced as a feature.
There are quite a few patents registered by Apple and what gets included in this intermediate update or variant, will determine the version name. 5 "C", if true, in all likelihood would relate to a new feature
