can't speak for everyone but i like the size. if you want bigger go for z1 this is for those who want a smaller phone. i can't imagine holding a slate to my face and carry around all day in my khakis. id give up all phones if this had easy charging port (not hidden under the hood) and back cover pop open for battery and sold. but no one makes that perfect phone (S4 which i have is lags and g2 is bit to big and international version without the battery replaceable and microSD. god let me be a designer and i would create that perfect phone.

If these specs were all true in a 4'3 inch display, then by all means this is the true 'mini' version of a flagship.

Perfect! That's what Samsung should have done with Galaxy S4, just put it into the shell of Galaxy S2.

greg, 30 Sep 2013and again :in Europe we will buy only big version , mini wi... moreThat i doubt, India is known for being more price conscious. I read somewhere before that it was in Europe Samsung felt the strongest demand for a smaller version of their flagships, but they totally missed that target (on purpose) with S3 Mini with its antiquated ST Ericsson chipset and whatever, but in return S3 Mini became a successful midranger in the region.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2013Some more thoughts from me. Guys, Samsung could easily make... moreCant you see thats exactly what is missing, a premium compact Android phone? iPhone buyers dont care about small display and big bezel now do they?

If you look closer at it the bezels are not actually that thick, but the aluminum frame protrudes more than 1.5mm on each side, adding a whopping ~3.5mm to the width and height. However this aluminum frame is what has given Xperia Z1 the added premium feeling compared to Xperia Z, it may weight in Sonys favor when you feel the devices in your own hand.

                        I think I'm OK with mine Z1.
First I thought I'll want to switch to mini, but now as I've used it for a week I can say that its OK with me. Even though my palms are small.

Will wait 7 months for the Z2 :)
IGZO, 3gb ram, 3200mAh.. and smaller bezels. YES! :)
Hope it will also have OIS.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2013Some more thoughts from me. Guys, Samsung could easily make... moreFirstly there are people who want a fast device with small size . Not Every one likes big size . Secondly the real big difference people might see in movies and games is between the screen of a tablet ( 7 inch to 10 inch) to a phone(4 to 5 inch ) but not between 4.3 and 5 inch . but The difference in pocketability between a 125mm and 135 mm (length) is so significant . And not to mention the ease of use ( now u can hold it in one hand) . And lastly if every one likes big screen no one should be buying iphone at all .

It's almost exactly the same size as the ZR, and that's definitaly not a "mini" smartphone...

Guys, Samsung could easily make... moreDid it ever cross your mind, there maybe a niche in the market for the hardware with a average size screen, only because manufacturers went to the five inch screens with 1080p that doesnt mean everybody wanted this size. As humans we are very adaptable beings, however we also have preferences. Why did apple stay with the four inch ? Not because they forgot to allocate r n d budget for screens. In my opinion the downfall would be the snapdragon 800 with the 2300 mah battery. This is just my thoughts, not saying I am right at all. Peace
