Some more thoughts from me. Guys, Samsung could easily make a mini device and put inside the same hardware they put in regular S4. They didn't because they knew that such device will be too expensive and won't be sold well. Unlike Sony they need a sales but not a nice looking expensive devices on store shelves... Sony need to understand a couple of things: 1) big screen and powerful hardware are bound to each other... It means that big screen (and most powerful hardware along with it) is needed to those who play heavy videos, games, install and use a lot of apps, taking and posting pictures to social networks etc. Using most powerful hardware might by justified here. But people who require a smaller device usually are not heavily involved in such activities, thus no point to put most advanced hardware in mini versions and make price tag crazy high. So I'm sure that expensive Z1 mini (it can't be reasonable priced with given specs) won't be able to attract target group of customers because they won't be attracted neither with size nor price of device. And those who accept size and price could obtain regular Z1 with bigger full hd screen and battery. And yes, the second thing Sony needs to understand is that people need a big screen, but not a big bezel... This is what I think about upcoming Z1 mini.

V's problem was the delay. when the V hit the european market it was jan 13. that was 6 months to late to conquer the market. i hope sony learned and will be faster this time or people will go for competition or other newer sony products!

If this has the same built quality and the only diference is the 720p/4,3 inch screen and battery then I will sell my Z1 and get the mini. I love my Z1 but I prefer a more compact phone. Got a tablet for multimedia use. All mini flagships until now are "mini" in every area and not only screen size.

AnonD-111968, 30 Sep 2013V is a failure, Z1 mini is perfect in size and specs,if 64.... moreIf Xperia V is a fail ( which in fact, by the time of announcement was very advanced device) there is no reason to think that Z1 mini will be any better welcomed by market. You might like 65 mm width and accept it as "mini" but most of potential customers won't. Wide bezels (same as on 1.5 years old Xperia V) around the screen will make device looking outdated. Add here very high price tag and you will get almost perfect fail (actually Sony will get). I think Z1 mini will be something what we already can call "dead on arrival". I'm not saying it's a bad device but combination of size+features+price will not attract many customers. People who accept the size and price tag of this device will most likely accept regular Z1 too. Look at yourself: you don't consider 65 mm as a wide, so I'm sure most likely you won't mind getting regular Z1. But probably you are expecting lower price tag for Z1 mini. Sadly for you it won't be much cheaper than regular Z1.

does "mini" really have to be 4" screen? I don't know about u guys but I like this Z1 mini.. high end specs in a smaller hardware.. I think Sony was the only one who got the "mini" thingy right because if ur going to make a.mini version it's just right to copy the strong points of the original one otherwise it's another device not a "mini" version.

Good job Sony that u increased the ROM to 16GB and front camera to 2MP, hope fully battery is removable yet still water resistant like ZR/V. At 64.9 mm it is narrower than S2 at 66.1 mm.
