4K on a tiny screen doesn't make much sense. Unless this is at least 8-10" screen. I work in professional multimedia content production and we went 4K in 2008 and my job is nitpicking on picture so I know what I'm talking about. I compared S3 with S4 and the difference is barely noticable with jump from 720p to 1080p.

If they want to improve viewing experience I suggest using resources to increase the pixel fill factor, making that grid between pixels thninner and increase screen refresh rate to 100 Hz.

8" QuadHD OLED might be interesting but I'd rather take 1080p 100hz one. And that would require roughly 40% of processing power compared to 60 Hz 2160p. Temporal resolution for devices like these is equally important and squeezing >500 PPI into devices like these while keeping 60Hz is not very sensible in my opinion.

And now its time for me to not care anymore regarding flagships.
uHD?!? seriously?!! freaking waste of performance and not to mention damn battery life!
FHd 1080p is already overkill for a smartphone.
And NO! bigger resolutions isnt always better!

The problem is that human eye can't make a difference between a hd display and a 4k display. They are quite too small.

I refuse to pay silly money for the Samsung Note 10.1 (2014 edition). Samsung are alienating customers with high prices. Now they want to develop 560ppi display. Who can afford to buy them?. Tablets are hand held devices. One drop and they break and the screen is cracked.

I want to get a PC monitor, but the likes of Samsung and LG, still don't have many affordable PC monitors at 2500x1600. Whats the point of talking about developing 4K displays?. I rather have 4K on my PC monitor then one on a tablet.

As for Samsung Televisions, people tell me they are the best. I don't know how people can say that. In the shops, the Samsung, had the most 'details', but it made the actors look ugly and you could see spots on their face. Yuk!. The film set look like it was made of cardboard. Their clothing, from costume shop. Too much detail is not always good. A slightly fuzzy display is better. It is no wonder, the shops keep showing displays of 'animation' cartoons rather then real movies....

geordie81, 07 Nov 2013i agree with you about the optimization of the software on ... moreRushed software? They had lots of time to fix it but they don't like. S-Voice is basically the same defective POS now as it was more than a year ago when Note 2 launched. They want people to use it but don't care if its useful, or even working, weird? No, not for Samsung, they can safely do it this way, most users don't expect things to work flawlessly, no problem then. I do however want people to question this practice, after all the S-Apps are taking up a lot of storage.

Lets face it, if S-apps weren't preinstalled then no one would install them, they are that bad. I cant imagine even ONE hardcore Sammy fan who go and pick up a Note 3 and then is in a hurry to get his data connection up and running so he can install the S-apps. Would simply not happen, not even once.

About Samsung user mentality, its the same now as it always were, I remember before Android had its big breakthrough, owners of various models of Samsung Corby were facing serious problems and Samsung didn't out any updates to address them, but the users still loved their Corby, one guy even went as far as saying "I have never been able to make a call, it disconnects in 1 or two seconds. This is the best phone in the world". Not exactly the most demanding users is it? When its ok to not be able to make a call then sure its ok that the phone is full of defective software as well, these guys will always have the best phone in the world in their own mind.

I got the LG G2 now but im also looking forward to what the S5 will bring in 2014. I hope samsung will get the right balance this time around. Adding features and also improving the old ones to give mostly hassle free usage levels.

Haha this is great news for the halfblind farsighted guys who love to post about how great 720p is. Whats even more fun is why they dont know it themselves, why they are so hardheaded in their refusal to get a pair of reading glasses.

Looking forward to QHD displays of max 5 inch size, 1440p sounds just about right for next years GPUs. I wonder though if there will be an intermediate resolution between 1440p and 4k, seems like a very big step to go straight to 4k.

The screen is one of the most important things in a smartphone. But more than fullHD on a 5-5,5 inch display is stupid. For starters even if the difference was notisable (and it's not) is not worth the battery consuption.
Make full HD with 100% colour accurancy and power efficient. Also improve the sunlight legibility. But more PPI is just not worth it.

5,25 inches is to big! who needs a phone like this? i want a 4,3 inches flagship phone that fits in a pocket and gives me 72 hours battery life while using the phone and not just keeping it on standby. battery life of todays devices sucks. no matter which brand. but all they got is bigger screens and more ram. pathetic!

But you should also be willing to accept that the s4 does have sofware features that are not well optimized and would only be getting in the way if left on. Just like the feature where you hover your hand over the device's sensor to view images. It does not work that smooth in which you wont feel irritated. Talking trash? Nah. Dont be silly. I know what im saying.

High resolution makes high specs useless as it drop the performance, and it demand an even bigger battery.

So in the end you end up with a device that have no performance, no battery life or is a giant.

4k TV in your pocket. Because you can't buy one for your living room, but need a reason to mortgage one. Samsung will give you a reason - it will have same resolution as your phone! Not that most people will have any idea what resolution that phone will have... as Apple said, anything beyond 300 ppi barely makes a difference. Current FHD displays are great, but do they really outshine HD displays? Do we really need all that processing power just to read a book/watch a movie/listen to music on a portable device?

I vote for smaller-than-huge-S4 devices with good (but not ridiculously fast) hardware with decent battery life and best camera+best camera software they can push into it. Good music quality will be a big plus, and large memory capacity (32/64 gig or microSD card slot) is a must.

S4 mini is just... wrong. Very high price for a screen with lower-than-HD resolution, and limited in many more ways (no haptic feedback?! no notification LED?! WTF? my cheaper device has it all!!!)

Look at iPhone users instead they got the worst devices one can buy small screens poor resolutions poor battery poor interface almost no smart features and no one seems to complain about them, how comes that ? That means that most of those that complain about Samsung devices are in fact hired marketing trolls used by competition to troll down Samsung devices and success.
