They should atleast have brought it till android 4.3. We are already getting bad reputation for fragmentation. Btw google is real culprit.
      1) they release two versions in 4 month thus confusing oems.
      2) they team with oems like lg who rarely update devices (for brand new ones, leave alone older) for nexus.

it's because of the tegra 3 soc and how difficult it is to port sense to tegra devices, stock android is fine but once you add sense which is htc's identity, that's when it gets difficult.

or of course, you could just root it and then do what ever you like with the phone..
just because a phone can run kitkat, should'nt mean that firm should supply updates forever.
my htc hd2 runs kitkat ok,but it was never released as an android phone in the first place but as a winmo 6.5.,just because 95% of them were rooted and re os'ed with android "doughnut" or what ever early pre-release of android proper was called,so htc should have to still supply updates for it? silly idea.
just root yer phone, take some risk in yer life,it probably wont kill you if it warrenty broken, inconvenience yes, cost some money possibly, but if your going to root most phones now,you may as well just buy what you want second hand at as cheap a price as possible.

Just another reason not to buy an HTC device in the future.
I hope the Nexus devices will still get updated regularly although i understand that the Samsung Nexus will remain on 4.3 and won't be getting 4.4 updates.

Why is it so difficult for HTC, Samsung, Sony, ...etc to update the Android 4.4.2?
Hire more software/firmware engineers instead to make more devices.
