A diversity of OS:es includes: Blackberry, FirefoxOS, Symbian, Tizen, Winphone/WinMobile and a few more.

So is WP 8.1 compatible with WP8 phones?
Is the WP8.5 compatible with todays WP-phones too?
Are WP8 phones uppgradeble for free, like IOS and Android-devices, or not?
Or Will WP8 to WP8.5 be a new WP7.5 to WP8 debacle. i.e buy new phone to get the latest WP version.

Why are you guys all yelling "WP should be like this, should be like that"?
So why don't just go buy a this or that device?
Everything has it's purpose for existing. WP should not and no need to be like anything else.
