Don't raise your expectations so high..
Rumors kept on showing fake details and a bunch of new premium superior features that weren't right..
I'm not saying that Galaxy S5 isn't good, but the rumors made us believe that this was the one and only smartphone we waited for so long..

Jason, 22 Apr 2014You are right about hard to protect the phone with this kin... moreThat may well be true but the moment the novelty wears off people will start returning their phones and that cant be good.

Maybe Samsung is gambling on the fact their new S5's have demonstrated that it can take quite a beating when falling flat on the face but that's a flat surface. A curved area is whole different ball game. We've seen the amount of damage a side impact can produce, most of the time shattering the main screen, can't imagine how bad it will be for the curved area. The actual panel itself is flexible but the protecting corning layer isn't. The flex is also along one plane. Impacts are not single plane phenomenons.

Anonymous, 22 Apr 2014How we will hold this phone without touching shortcuts?? They will know how to solve it if they release it. Just like the feature they use for note 8.0 and bigger screen devices to disable the hand touch while register the s pen touch only. Something along the line. This is innovation. Few years ago no one ever think a phone can have camera with 3 megapixels or higher.

My next phone. Or I hope it is. Gonna upgrade from s2. S4 was a disappointment, note 3 was 50/50 for me but i ddnt go for it because of the design language and s5 wasn't what I hoped although it is a good phone however I think im not alone in thinking that Samsung need a new design. If the s5 had a new design to the previous phones, I bet it would have had far better praise in the mobile community even with the exact same specifications as it has currently.

Hopefully the note 4 doesn't dissapoint. But if Samsung stay true to their tradition then the note 4 will look similar to s5 and this might be for the s6 instead. Personally I hope its note 4. I need to upgrade lol.

Galaxy s5 had same type of design, but what they released is a crap. So don't believe in these rumors.

Apart from the pointless drop test galore, this time any drop in real life might be fatal for such a design. Sometimes just because you can do it might not be a practical way to go forward.

Maybe Samsung plans special warranty for side impacts..*sneer sneer*

Furthermore, no more point to any flip cover wallets or back covers if you have to clear and clean access to all the curve screen real-estate.

So the phone must be fully bare at all times.

I guess the necessary technology wasn't mature enough and/or was too expensive to be worth of it.
