Smart phone market is going mad. Just like it happened in desktops and later on laptops. Now, smartphones are on the scene.

Oh dear - so I guess I could be sued for watching Prime time TV? Lol. 800/801 chipset is better for 1080p. Feel sorry for anyone who placed an order on the g3. At least if you get an iPhone you know you got the best for a year before it gets replaced. Oh and a snapdragon 800 Droid can lag -my nexus 5 did it the other day. Only little - but still lag - anyone who says they have never had any lag on their Droid is a liar.

KiM, 13 Jun 2014The G3 is not yet available that they talk of upgrading it ... moreNot that hard to do. 1st if you're concerned about the SoC used, some easy research can be done by googling.

Snapdragon 800 -> 801 -> 805 = ALL THE SAME Krait 400s family w/ just incrementally OC'ed GPUs and increased processing:batt life ratios. And where SD GPUs if/are such a high priority on anyone's spec sheet, hardcore mobile gaming + batt life + daily routines necessary on a phone = what?

2nd about the rage of screen res + PPI aka going to QHD. Ask yourself this; not even higher priced midrange laptops w/ 13 - 15" scr are even FHD in the market and actually not a complete ripoff = to maintain said prices the combo of CPU + GPU used must match the kind of batt life that potential users expect, so anything more powerful to drive a higher res scr are only reserved to more expensive models. It's not rocket science.

So frankly people already with SD800 phones shouldn't be fussing about 801 or 805 upcoming devices when all they need is to keep up with better codes (manufacturer firmware/software upds if any) plus not lose anything surely not money and just wait out for 808 and 810 ones instead.

I can't believe LG would mess up its sales of G3 with 801 SoC with these rumors. If this is in fact true, I can't beleive it either, who'd want to buy a phone with 801 SoC when same phone with 805 SoC is around the corner ? One explanation is aht the modification with 805 SoC will be released in Korea only. If not - LG is crazier than Samsung, Samsung at least tricked millions of people into buying S5 and denied S5 Prime rumors before bitchslapping everyone with Galaxy F.

I am glad that the more time passes, the more the technological war/run is increasing always more and more! (And finally it will be the passionate who will earn /and all consumers as well) and then may the best win!

                  Hang on...
... They're 'trade marking the name 'Prime'??!
I'm getting tired of all this patenting & trade marking nonesense :\
Sad that LG feel the need to jump on that bandwagon :S

Thats probably the reason why it has yet to be announced they will probably announce it with availability of both versions at the same time. They might axe the G3 with the 801 all together and just plug in the 805 thats all that will be different. I also heard there will be 2 variants 1 with 16gb and 2gb Ram or a 32gb and 3gb ram so maybe the 3 gb version will include the 805processor. But either way I am holding out to see and it will be my next phone. Claimed.

1440p QHD have 77.7% more pixels than 1080p. No current hardware can push that kind of pixel without draining battery quickly and overheating. Nvidia's K1 and Snapdragon 805 should be standard on any device over 1080p.

In fact, I want them to put K1 and 805 on 1080p phone so we have better battery life and more fluid and beautiful games instead of just upping the resolution.

Angry Mobile Nerd, 13 Jun 2014I don't get it; the Vivo xplay 3s has been shipping for mon... moreIt is due to better software optimization. That is also the reason why a phone like Xperia L with a 1Ghz dual-core and adreno 305 GPU can run high end games. Or Moto G with 720P display snapdragon 400 adreno 305GPU runs well in all situations. So it all comes down to, how well the manufacturers can optimize their custom ui to run with a certain cpu and gpu combination.

Anyway, it can be good because that way the standard G3 will have a reasonable price, the crazy price being for the Prime and people who absolutely want the best, even if only for a few months or even weeks.

The G3 is not yet available that they talk of upgrading it ? How silly, that will only make people rethink their decision of buying a G3.
And then when they launch the G3 Prime they will talk of a Super Prime ???
When i buy a flagship i like to know that my phone is the best for at least a year !
