12 August, 2014
It seems the Xperia Z3 may not have much new hardware to show, the GFXBench database suggests.

Why is Sony in a rush??? I thought they'd try better with the Z3 just like Samsung did with the Galaxy S3. It was a clear shift in design and performance. I still like Sony.

SOny has always been clear about its strategy 2 phones a year and no stupid specs race! The Z2 is clearly a class apart from pretty much every phone out there, I know, as I was an early adopter! Currently using the LG G3 which I like for different reasons altogether but the reason for getting rid of my Z2 is to get a Z3. Most people tend to skip one iteration if they get by on 1 phone a year. Z to Z2 to Z4 OR Z1 to Z3! Get it?

I had the S5 for a few days and can tell you that the Xperia is a better phone. Better design, better made, better UI, less junk, better camera (the S5 has a very poor dynamic range).

Nobody but someone without any understanding of how hardware and software work will get excited about slightly better benchmarks, since these do not say much about actual user experience.

Apple barely tells you what's under the cover, yet my old iPhone 5 is still smoother than my current Xperia, or the Samsung S5.

I personally prefer the Apple way, of releasing one good phone a year (now two) and then updating them as long as the hardware supports the updates.

Sony made a mistake in going to semiannual cycle, I would imagine it will impact their sales, as potential customers will always wait for the "next one," until they buy something else.

It's a fake guys...First off all if you see it carefully, it states as Snapdragon 800, which is impossible as Sony wont degrade the chipset as they already are on SoC 801. Secondly the back camera states that it has no HDR, not possible as Z2 already possesses it. Then there is a 2MP front shooter, not possible again since Z2 has 2.2MP front camera. So out and out it's a fake, i don't think that brands like Sony would be foolish to downgrade the specs for there flagships.

What's the point of releasing if the hardware us almost the exact same? I hope they don't turn into Apple, releasing the same product year after year. I won't upgrade till Snapdagon 810 comes out.

I would prefer Z3 compact over Galaxy alpha, but that scratchy Xperia back panel isn't for me, I don't use cases.

Having owned the Z1 and worked with several Z2's I can without doubt say that I will never buy another Sony phone for as long as I live, I've now been given a Samsung S5 with the Gear fit (for free might I add) and it is a world apart from the Sony's, I also miss the the HTC line up, the M8 is just a joy to use, the fact that Sony have opted for an 801 is beyond me, it absolutely should be an 805 with 32GB of ram, this is the year that Sony fall on their ar5es, bet theres still the same 20mp grainy shooter in there too.
