Samsung Galaxy Alpha preview: First look

13 August 2014
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a surprising change in the Samsung product strategy. It certainly has many of the Galaxy S5 key selling features, while staking on more premium material such as aluminum. But it’s not another flagship, no, it’s rather an offshoot of the Galaxy family tree – something that the Galaxy S5 mini could have been but is not. An unusual bird, indeed.

If this phone is with S5 specs and with this design, i will surely buy it.
However, with it's actual specs, i will go for Note 4 or Note 3 instead.

What a piece of crap looking model. Comon Samsung all those billions spent and you can't make it match the aesthetics of the competitors. I've got a Nexus 5 with its understated design and it still looks way better than this shit, I mean common get rid of change the looks of those buttons.

                        Xiaomi Mi4 all the way...

It is probably as laggy as hell. Hickupping all the time. Why can't Samsung sort out their damn lag issues. I?ve had a Galaxy since the original Galaxy and the lag never seems to get better. They put crazy processors in their phones and they still lag. Maby it's time to move on. Even the S5 lags. WHY?

Btw, can anybody tell why this phone is called Alpha? Seems no one has put any thought into this.

Guys one more Sony fan here but i would like to post my opinion. Firstly i dont think they( samsung ) havent thought about that small battery so they must have some technology to improve the battery life this is a premium phone and common sense says that battery life cant just suck in numbers with the capacity, Secondly thinking about Xperia Z and Z1 Sony were not able to solve the problem of battery drain until they have gone with the completly different display in Xperia Z2. And also display uses the most battery in all androids so lets wait n watch what Samsung has really done in Display part...?

The outlook / weight is similar to Galaxy S2..
                                    ^_^

I agree with those that suggest the 20nm chip will improve battery drain. But come on people the battery is REMOVABLE. Samsung owners always bang on about this so surely this still counts for something!

                                        No microSD card slot
                                        No MHL
                                        No water resistance
                                        No IR blaster
                                        Small battery (for today's standard)

Too many sacrifices for semi-premium feel
