Motorola Nexus 6 hands-on: First look

29 October 2014
Motorola may have already divorced Google, but the relationship still bears fruit and most recently we've seen the Nexus 6. The first Nexus phablet and the first Nexus by Motorola closely follows the Moto X (2014) design language and brings many of...

OK, so, there are comments on this phone being wobbly on a table top. If the wireless charging loop inside the phone is near the bottom, how practical will it really be to use a wireless charger? It seems like it would be balanced precariously on the base. Get/make a cradle adapter? I'd prefer to just drop the phone on a wireless charger at night. Definitely not a deal breaker, but a sad thing, I think.

Anyone try this yet? Can the reviewer, if they have a wireless charger, comment, please?

Thank you.

It is very disappointing that there is no moto apps and features like moto voice, touchless control , double tap to wakeup etc in nexus 6.

The battery is sufficient to run for a whole day with moderate to high usage of 3G,gaming,watching videos, listening music and taking calls. By whole day I mean 12 -18 hours that is a average time that a human being is awake.

Also a bit too big, I want a phone that is out of the way, if I want something bigger I bring my tablet (nexus 7) along, or laptop..

Why would I choose it over Galaxy Note 4? The only thing that comes to my mind is software support but is it enough to beat SPen, multitasking and better screen of Note4? I don't think so.

Looking forward to see it with my own eyes but i assume this is Pentile, still good of course but not optimal.

Ahaha, i can see imperfections even at 440 ppi, and i have proved it by pointing out where to find them, then took screenshot and zoomed in for everyone to see it. No doubt we need QHD but for now i will refrain from QHD due to lack of GPU power. However i have heard efforts are being made to enable QHD displays to be run as 1/4th resolution (1280x720), where 4 and 4 pixels are grouped together. When phones already have 4k displays that technology may become a must-have for running 3D games.

But, you need reading glasses, your condition is called Hyperopia and is a genetic inborn defect in the eye where the eyeball is too short to focus on short distances. The condition can easily be diagnosed using the Jaeger type eyechart (not the standard one you usually see which is used to diagnose Myopia aka nearsightedness).
