to what the heck:
Provided that your memory card is inserted, check the options at Video mode and change the default folder from internal memory to memory card. The unlimited sign should now be available... you should do the same for Photo mode since it is not advisable to fill your internal memory with too much data.

    yup, it took me a week or so to get used to the 2 abc button... but now it's easy to navigate the keypad, a lot easier and faster than the past nokia phones i used.

        wow.. how lucky am i?... now my charger gave up on me after 5 months of usage and my service center gave me only 3 months warranty for the charger... haha.. well, since their shop is a great deal away from my office and alcatel chargers are practically unavailable near my vicinity I wanted to know if anyone tried other brand's chargers... as long as the rating is the same there should be no problem right? any suggestions? Does motoroloa have chargers with the same rating? thanks a lot..

            hi its my second post.

            i have been using this phone for a month now. and here is my post as a user.

            over-all, the phone is amazing, i could rate it 7.5 out of 10. with its loud speakers, you could cast jealousy on your friends. again the photo quality (1.3 mp) is just right and average. remember this is a phone, if you want a quality camera, buy a digicam (i suggest you but sony or canon). with its 262k resolution, you can download any picture or photo you want in the internet and download it in your phone. i also like the remote control but not the free earphones.

            for the cons of this phone. first is the WAP site (here in philippines) isnt working at all. based on the pamphlet, there are free downloads every month. that is amazing but sadly i only get a connection error prompt everytime i connect to it.

            my firmware version i guess is 177, i just bought this phone here in baguio philippines and this i guess is the latest firmware here. i dont know if the problems i encounter is due to its firmware version.. the problems i encountered are the ff;
            1. sometimes it doesnt play the whole part of an mp3, it just stop in the middle of the song and play the next songs.
            2. once i encountered my newly full charged battery it suddenly stop and prompted empty. i have to switch the phone on again.
            3. sometimes i cant open my inbox. it always displays "warning!"
            4. screen freeze once or twice a week.

            here are my cons for the phone's performance;
            1. the keypad 2abc is hard to press due to the big ok button.
            2. your music stops to play if recieving a new message.
            3. you cant reply to message unless you open all the new message that you recieve. (if you are texting and suddenly a message is recieved, you have to stop texting and you must read the message recieved first.)
            4. the volume level. especially on the third and second loudest. if your in the third level loud, then suddenly you are in a noisy room you wish to make your music louder (via earphone and remote), and you switch on to second loudest... the result is too loud.
            5. the 3d sound sometimes makes your signal in an fm station worse to hear.
            6. the cd or service pack you recieved isnt just working in your pc. it cant install. it always prompt an error.
            7. the looks of the phone is durable. but once you hold it... better think twice.

            well thats all! but if you are planning to buy this phone. i suggest that you should! its a great phone afterall. the cons here isnt that important when it comes to application. you will have the opportunity to be unique in your society when all your friends are holding a nokia,samsung,sony,motorola phones. then when they see your phone, they'll just ignore it because it is alcatel, but once they get hold of it, the reaction is different. i often hear comments like "i shouldve bought this phone than my phone!"

            to the alcatel company: i hope that you didnt stop manufucturing this phone. dont do what nokia and other companies do. they have new models almost every month. we expect to have an upgrade on the phone every now and then than having a new model of phones. having new model of phones only means they are using the people's ignorance to earn money. (just an opinion) tata for now.

              First of all 010 10 is not the firmware version, to check your version you really need to check the sticker on the back of the phone! Yes older versions of the phone had bugs like that, so I am not to sure what firmware version they have installed on your phone now, I would ask them just to be sure.

              Roy7: Yes I know there was talk about those kind of Java application, but I do not know where they can be found or what they are called. I just know that they exsist. But I never actively searched for them as I don't need the bluetooth function to share files. Useless battery killing application if you ask me. So sorry I do not know where they are, yet. Sorry.

              Ley: Your phone must play 3gp videos... IT MUST!!! as all of the videos that it records are in 3gp format and those work too? So IT MUST play them. And yes 188 is much more stable. For zoom go to "My settings", then enter the "Display" option, in that list there are all sorts of things you can do to change the display look including "Zoom".

              gK: The fact that 1 GB cards show less then they are supposed to is not a problem, it is just because of the fact that the original platform of the phone was not designed for those cards in the first place, so it does not make sense to the phone that there is a 1GB card, because it thinks they do not exsist... however. They tweaked the software in the meantime to make it work with those cards anyway even though the shown memory space does not comply. I am sure in future updates even that "beauty mark" will be tweaked and taken care of.

              Thanks for your interesting questions people ;-)

                @ley
                What do mean by the zoom option?
                If you are looking to change the text/font size of your phone, you can goto My Settings -> Display -> Zoom

                I have no problem playing 3gp video on my phone, but haven't try mp4 yet. I uses a video converter from my friend's Nokia CD suite.

                @roy7
                I think you have mistaken KR's post.
                Try searching on google or yahoo for it, so far I haven't come across one yet.

                @Knight Rider
                I am back.
                Not too sure on my phone firmware though, I receive my phone back with clean OS. but 1GB miniSD are still showing up as less then what it suppose to be.
                Haven't got the chance to hook it up to my computer yet, since I accidentally left my cable else where.

                        Knight Rider,
                        My phone version is 010 01. When it occured for the third times, i send my phone to service centre and they change for a new board. But unfortunately it still occured. Well yesterday i found my phone directory was empty again after i attached photo call to one of my contacts. Is there any anynoumous bugs for photo call function? And this morning i found that i could not save my capture picture. It said "Service is not available". What do u think?

                          Rikimaru: I have never had that problem... but what is your firmware version? Open the phones back cover, remove the battery and look at the sticker, there are a set of numbers like your Imei number. But there is also a number that looks like 167 or 169 or 177 etc. Check what is your number... if it is an older version you shall need to update your phone at a local service center, but no worries if your warranty is still intact the update is for free, or at least it should be!

                              First of all, the battery thing where the phone returns from one to two bars is normal, most phones have that. When you are making a call and you look at the phones screen and see that there is one bar left, the phone is telling you that under current usage (calling) the battery has only one bar of power, however if you later end your call and the phone turns back to two bars that indicates that it has 2 bars left in standby mode. Remember that making a call uses a lot of power and standby uses hardly any power at all... But like I said most phones have that... call someone and wait till one bar drops of... then hang up and look at the phone again in lets say 30 minutes and you will discover that most phones will have that bar back again!

                              Now to the problem where the battery is low and your phone says its empty, SOS: what is your firmware version? As it might be a firmware problem (if it is older) or even a battery problem.

                              Also as for the messages, I never had that problem. And it makes no sense that a phone would not accept the messages as you can not really be occupied... cause even if you are the phone will accept them anyway, So, my advice, also to the person who says he sees a new message came in but the inbox is empty, check out your your SMS settings see if you enabled the phone to receive the messages at any time as that can all be tweaked in the SMS menu, also, check your firmware what version it is if you have not updated to the most recent one a short while ago (through a licensed service center).

                                I have experience this problem after the software upgrade, although it seemed a little bit fast than the usual pero here comes another problem. I have also experience the messages problem. The icon appears everytime I receive a message but no message appears on the inbox and the icon will disappear if I press any button. Could anyone enlighten us.

                                  I have basically the same problem.
                                  The indication of the the battery level is not that accurate anymore. Sometimes it would change from 1 bar back to 2 bars again.

                                  Another problem I have is as follows:
                                  I noticed that I didn't receive any messages yet for the whole day, which would be unusual. So later thatday when i finally turned my phone off and on again, all messages that were send earlier kept pouring in at the same time. But keep in note i was still able to send messages. This happened already several times and I doubt that the GSM service provider is the problem, cause I don't know anyone, who has the same problem that frequently. The off/on routine has not become a daily one for my phone... :( I hope there's a solution for this, since the find network method, i used previously, in the Networks menu of this phone is not that effective anymore.

                                      hellstormbols: What do you mean you can't play and which configuration? Tell me.

                                      Yes this phone is capable of playing mpeg4 videos but I have not tested the longer then 10 minute thing. But it should play longer videos too yes as the 10 minute limitation only stands for recording the videos and not persé for viewing them.

                                      THWS: There are supposed to be some Java applications that would enable the bluetooth transfer, I never looked for them though as I do not really need them, sorry. But yes there are some. If you find any drop me a mail ;-). And no the fullscreen option is not (yet) possible, but because of the nice screen resolution the videos are still very viewable.
