Are you sure it has 188 firmware? Does it say so on the sticker? I had no such problems.

My phone has the 188 firmware and still crash down when i turn on the Radio.

Compared to all the other current Alcatel phones on sale, this phone has the best spec and response time, taken in mind that it is equiped with the latest firmware.

and just like other files, there may be some games and applications that contain viruses (speaking from experience)... so please beware of what you're downloading and check it for viruses first...just a friendly reminder... ;p

Go to www.getjar.com, that is a site with a lot of legal mobilephone games and applictations that you can get for free, but please keep in mind that you only download the software that is compatible with the phone and with its screen. When you have downloaded it simply plug the phone in on your PC via usb cable and place the games and applications directly on the mini SD card (in the appropriate folder). If you still don't know how to do it... please feel free and email me, I shall help you step by step.

Boticz: If your phone crashed and hangs, it means it is still equiped with the old firmware, you should get it updated and the phone will be rock solid and very stable.

when it comes to sound quality. it's great with its dual stereo speaker. my only complain about this unit is it hangs up most of the time. its battery life is not that long. you have to recharge almost every day even if the only function you are using is texting. i havent tried using 1gb memory card....

i purchased mine last month and i immediately used 1gig sd...and it works! but i'm having problems transfering data from other phones using infra red...but as for bluetooth...i think it'll just be a dream...it's sad that users of this phone cant use motorola's HT-820 bluetooth headset to listen to mp3's...one thing that i dont like about this phone is the GUI of the mp3 player...motorola E398's player is more user friendly...and the fact that music stops when u have an incoming sms and while creating an SMS ...unlike e398 that allows the user to create and send sms while listening to mp3's...but on lighter side...video and camera resolutions are good...no flash though...and there's this issue about battery life...

I've not seen the phone but it has great funtions. I hope it will not be too expensive because it has similar functions to the top rated phones.

I cannot install pc suite 4.18 on my computer, because it need windows XP. Can i install 4.18 with microsoft 2000 ??? thanx for your advice.

Nico: You can check your firmware of your phone by opening the backlid removing the battery and look at the sticker at the back of the phone underneath the battery, the strip holds a variety of number for instance your Imei. But also a 3 or 4 digit number that should be like 0169 or 169, thats the first version of the phone that was released in central Europe. Now newer updated phone feature a different number like 179 or 182 for instance. My phone is a 188 version, the latest version available in central Europe. But just to clarify something here, even the old 169 versions (and onward) should support 1GB SanDisk cards (that's stated in the German manual for instance, support of up to 1 GB). If they do not support them (by not working at all!!!) You should check with your shop or better yet your local Alcatel service center in your country and ask for an update, or schedule one with them so you can send the phone back.
For the other question, the 4.18 you downloaded is NOT the firmware. That is the newest PC suite software, the software with which you can make your phone communicate with your PC for exchanging pictures, ringtones or other types of data. So again that is NOT the firmware you use for an update for you phone... infact you can not update the firmware of your phone by yourself, you have let the Alcatel service center do that, if you wonder why please send me an email at un112@msn.com. knight rider i already downloaded the lastest firmware 4.18(450mb) but i dont have the phone yet =). so can i update it myself if ever i get the phone with the older firmware? and maybe can use a gig minisd? thanks in advance.

knight rider u mean the new manufactured phone? is it with the firmware or its just the phone? how can i tell if it is a new version one? im afraid i might get the older version and end up 128mb sd capacity.
