thanks Ali Pinoy. Ill try to drop by Versatile WHEN I have the time. Is S853 your main phone right now? Hows the experience? Any connectivity/File transfer problem?
Btw, I guess the camera function of S853 are really being overshadowed. The graphic interface doesnn't look that appealing. But hey, for the price... i thinks its good enough.

Alcatel fans, let's be honest, instead of giving less money for a product (like 853) full of problems or bugs, some of you may prefer to pay a few more for a reliable brand. Am I right or am I right?!?!

Gigel, please don't waste your money by buying Samsung Z510. If you don't want this phone, you better spend your money (allocated for Samsung Z510)for XCute DV2. It's a 6 megapixel camera phone and has 16 million color tft screen.

Gigel: Samsung Z510 don't have card slot and don't have FM too.Samsung Z510 is USD 429 (www.nextag.com/samsung-z510/search-html?nxtg=23a00a1c050b-29146308434B2ECF)while ALCATEL OT S853 is USD360.57 (http://search.ebay.com/alcatel-ot_W0QQfkrZ1QQfnuZ1). Anyway, it's all up to the people what brand they prefer. The brand that most satisfy your needs should be your preference.

Kabron: First, as a nokia user, let me remind you that if you shift to this phone, you will find it hard to write SMS as nokia's period(.) and nokia's space is found in number "0" key while other brands' key arrangement (Alcatel, motorola, and others) have their space in a key before number 1 or in number 1. But that's the only thing that matters.

The phone has caught my fancy. Im thinking of getting one next pay day. But since it'll be the first alcatel phone I'll ever own if I do get this, would it be troublesome for nokia based users? And also, Im finding it hard to find one on manila phone dealers. Wellcom doesnt sell 853s yet. I found one priced at P11,800. I wonder if I can get it for much cheaper. And also, does 853s circulating manila already the newer version? Reading about the phone bugs here, makes me think it'll be troublesome if I get the buggy versions. My other option was a SE W800 but since I don't think my budget will suffice, thats why I had my eyes on S853.
Thanks.

Carlo Suerte Felipe must be a fan.
And I'm sure he wasn't able to read all these opinions and reviews made by the owners.

Hi all, to those who want a review of this phone. Here's one from the Philippines as published in MANILA BULLETIN NEWSPAPER. See this...
ALCATEL OT-S853
Mobile phone with 2.1 Stereo Surround Sound Coming Thru!
By Carlo S. Suerte Felipe
The thing with phone nowadays is that when it has camera and mp3 player features, it's cool. When it has camera, mp3 player, and a card slot, it's way beyond cool. If it also has a speaker, it's sweet.
So what do you call a phone that, aside from all of those features, has a 2.1 surround sound?
You might think that only the leading phone brands can come up with a neat gadget. True enough. but the problem is, you just cant get enough of them. And what you dont get from them is what you usually find in other brands.
Alcatel, which may not be a giant to reckon with, has come up with the OT-S853 - a phone that'll surely keep multimedia lovers busy once they get a hold of it.
The demo unit that was given to us to be reviewed is, what I thought, something that most multimedia phones offer. But, then again, as I held the phone, I was awed by the "2.1 surround" written on the phone's rubberized casing.
And you thought that audiophiles are worthy of 2.1 surround sound.
At the left side of the phone are several buttons that you can use while in camera and mp3 player mode. The speaker and the infrared port is located at the top of the phone, while the card slot is located at the right side of the phone. The phone is capable of handling mini-SD cards of up to 1GB.
Anyways, we tested the OT-S853's sound quality, which is the highlight of this phone and was very impressive. Side-by-side with the W900i, the OT-S853 stood out a notch higher - with a more clearer, louder sound.
The keypad layout is easy to learn but one thing we don't like about it is the "OK" button. It's too pronounced for a button with a few functions.
Other features include EDGE, FM Radio, a calendar, a clock with timezones, a calculator and games (although there's only one game installed, which I didn't checked, but you can download and install what you want).
Another good thing about the phone is that it comes complete with earphones, USB cable, 128MB mini-SD card, a remote cable (which you can clip on to your shirt), and a rubber Alcatel strap holder.
A lot of my officemates gave the phone a two-thumbs up when they saw the phone. They tinkered with it and find it very easy to use. But when I told them that I was having difficulties connecting it with other phones thru bluetooth, they suddenly changed their appreciation. I'm not sure though it the same would happen to bluetooth headsets.
My take on the Alcatel OT-S853 is that it needs work on its connectivity - bluetooth and IR-wise. The infrared is not that bad though, but it still needs work. Overall, it's a nice phone for non-3G consumers and for audiophiles as well.

Mohammed, Samsung Z560 is more expensive than this phone as Alcatel always have high quality low price phone. Although Z560 has more feature than this phone, it will surely have two times price against this phone's price. So, it all to you. For me, buy this phone or wait for the release of ot s860.

To mohamed, all alcatel phones previous, present and upcoming and unannounced and even those that supports CDMA rather than GSM are posted in www.wapzon.com. Just try to visit that site. OT - S860 (innovation of OT-s853 is also there. Good luck.

To MPU: I experience that kind of problem, even if you turn your fone off it wont respond. So I just waited for the fone to drain its power and after that I charge it and its all well again.

To all, since Alcatel merged with TCL, Alcatel's service is getting down. During the time that Alcatel did not merge with TCL, their website is very very user friendly. We can download sounds and images contents for free. We can scan the phone in all angles zooming it to and fro and almost all phones are being displayed in that previous web page of them. Now that it has merged with TCL and has renewed its web page, alcatel phone is now no longer convincing as it no longer shows s what they previously shown. Their previous web page is very nice. Now its very poor that even mobile-review.com is no longer reviewing any of the new phones. But still alcatel has very excellent in making original design which others have not done. The only problem is they are not able to put it good features. I think ALCATEL is now losing with BIRD. But ALCATEL can still stand if they can offer after sales service worldwide.

If you experienced this white screen bug, then U cannot experience any others, because the phone does NOT turn on after that.

To Mohamed: You want an honest to goodness review review regarding the phone. The camera is so far good but only to bright places, the image capture is very dark when the light is dim and you have taken the picture on indoor. The video is average. But the resolution of the phone is good. The icons is a little bit childish. The sound is really very good and even the sound captured through your videos is very clear and loud. It has bugs especially when you use your infrared but I have notice that it only occured when I have 18% content on my memory card although they said that the software upgrade is the answer to all the bug problems. The design is so masculine and unique. The keypads is soft and silent. You could write text faster and signal is strong. Voice calls is clear. Battery life is minimum of three days when you use your camera a lot. weight is very light. Overall I will give the phone a four out of five but I will make it five If the bug problems is solve. Hope this helps.

To MPU: I have experience that kind of bug and some other bugs especially when you use your infrared but I believe that software upgrade is the answer but there aren't any available on CEBU, Phillipines. What can you suggest.
