Im a tech fan son, but its clear that Apple are doing something to mess up youngsters mind, i don't know it maybe their way of marketing, but for me its not worth it.

[deleted post]I dont know but i gave my 3GS to my kid, had trouble with the battery and reception. Its just doesn't feel like a phone, i know everything has problems but this does not feel like a phone for me, its more of a multimedia device, thought its good for games and some entertainment apps. Now with the Iphone 4 having more problems its just hard for the consumers.

If this phone was perfect it would be less interesting, and you guys would have nothing to write about, god bless the iPhones little quirks.

So they now are compelled to bully the iPhone, no matter how great it is.
They will prob get bored soon and move on to another handset.

People simply use them, wanna bet! this mindset is going tom lead to the downfall of many a corporate nthat thinks this way. Your average 25 year old is tech savvy and gunning for a higher position. He graduates with a posing in mind of a manager or senior manager in a corporate and relies on his interpersonal devices. the Cellular phone has developed into a PDA that most management cannot do without, so he relies on it. Phone provides bad service he reports it, gets no joy he boycotts it. so you lost a client big deal. Wrong! Standard Sales stat says that if you let down/provide bad service/ then that person tells 11 others, so guess what you just lost 11 potential cistomers, shame. make him happy and he tells one maybe two others, awe you got to work hard to make the man happy,SHAME.
Better ,make the man happy or you'll be getting the chop won;t you.

People tend to romanticize the past but mobile phones seem to have no respect for their ancestors. Technology has advanced at breakneck speed and our humble database is nothing short of a time machine. Hop on for a journey in the history of mobile phones. And by the way, it’s history you – our readers – wrote.

We dug deep inside our server logs ten years back. We traced certain trends to present day and we have some interesting charts to show you. It’s all there: how form factor preferences have mutated through the years and how touchscreen has changed the game today.

You will also learn how slimness, weight and screen size went up and down over the years. As you see, we’ve got a long story to tell. But first, let’s explain how we sourced the raw data for this unusual research.

The stats are based on all the GSM phone models we have been adding and updating since 2000. We’ve put billions of page hits in the equation to make sure it’s accurate.

It seems nobody has done similar research so far so we didn’t have a way to cross-check our findings, but everything seems to tie in nicely with our personal observations.

There are two limitations we need to point out.

First off, back in the old days we used to put down only the phones’ announcement date in the database and not the actual launch date. So you may notice a certain time shift in the charts. For instance, a large number of 2003 models were popular in 2004, because it was when they were actually available. That shouldn’t be a problem though, the info is still there.

Secondly, we’ve broken down the raw data into two types of averages. With the absolute averages every model has the same statistical importance (same weight). The second type, the weighted average, accounts for the fact that models have different importance (varied weight) depending on their popularity (measured by user hits).

To put it simply – touchscreen phones have a simple average of 20% of all phones in 2008, but a weighted average of 35%. The absolute average tells us that of all phones one in five was a touch phone, which is a generally unimpressive share. But this same year touch phones generated one third of all the hits on our phone database. They were the most popular (and potentially most high-end) models.

Bear in mind though, that the weighted average is a wee bit skewed towards the more expensive phones, since those generate a disproportionately higher amount of traffic. You know people are not fascinated by run-of-the-mill handsets. They don’t look them up online, they don’t research them – they simply use them.

let's look at the iPhone 4. Advanced Capacitive Touch screen, AWESOME. so what else? oh wait, it's got a brand new circuit design, ummm, 4th generation tech that other Phone providers already discarded as obsolete. ok? guess they doing more with less, what about functionality? Oh great over a million applications, wait, they limited and you have pay like mad for them, hmmm. ok!!!
Well how's the call clarity, average.
Ok, responsiveness is bordering on great. looking better.
Reliability - 0.0 , phone drops more than 5 out of every 10 calls, why????
Reception - oh wait, Apple made a mistake in their OS and report innacurate signal reception, hmmm, ok. Fix does not work?? Problem been present since initial iPhone? What are the developers asleep? Design Flaw, and you only noticed now??
Great memory capacity, but you have to use iTunes, why!
Bluetooth transfer between my iPhone and Blackberry, fails constantly even after succesful pairing, Blackberry reports device not responding, so does my Pc. Bluetooth does not transfer to my wife's nokia, keeps failing. Blackberry to nokia, perfect.
Picture viewing, second to none, WOW.
Conclusion: if you want a fancy expensive electronic photoframe that can sometimes transfer the photos and play music with the option of using it for crappy calls this is then the phone for you...sorry picture frame for you.

Even with an antenna problem the Iphone 4 is the thinnest smartphone in the world which boasts the most mega pixels and the most powerful.

There's nothing out there that can compete with the Iphone 3gs so don't even think about competing with the Iphone4 because it will take years.

Lets see what apple say about this signal antenna tomorrow 6pm uk time :-)

Hasn't effected me, The iphone4 is awesome guys don't let these so called haters on here who can't afford one tell you anything different.

Not our fault there poor :-)

BTW HTML 5 is also supported soon by Youtube, GOOGLE is something that is cross compliant something apples doesn;t understand eve to this day. Symbian, Android, Blackberry etc.. very soon will have HTML5 support then aplle won't have any leg at all to stand on.

So what apple claims to be able to do ahead of everyone is actually a step backwards because they ignorantly discount many more unsupportive technologies which already put you behind years ago. By that standard they are always behind, not in front.

Apple's only claim to fame first is decent capacitive touchscreens & ratified the original USB 1.1 spec with adjustments to the architecture which actually lamed USB to aplle compliance only, so that is alread a LAME claim to fame since they only did a bit to get it started then they trodd all over it LOLS. But wait that means apple only have their capacitive touchscreens to be proud of as their only claim to fame. They must be proud of their hypocracy & false advertising. Battery life being the only claim which they haven't lied over.
