goodking, 27 Sep 2014'Line' cannot work properly on asus5. It cannot send any v... moreI use Line all the time but went to recheck anyway. Using 4.6.1 version of Line on full 1.18.40 firmware (meaning it's not OTA updated but full firmware loaded manually).
Anyway - I can send and receive videos, photos, and other files. Video and voice only calls work. To computer and to another mobile phone.
I tried Take photo and Take video, and both work without issues. Videos were 30 seconds in length.
So this is not an issue with Line or phone. But it is possible that you have some update in between OTA updates missing, or the apps not updated. All my apps are updated to last version.
Now an interesting thing that I've just found out, and I don't know whether anyone else has the same issue…
I was sending things between ZF5 and Find7. And…
ZenFone 5, in CNN app, does not load video, just states that it's not available, while the same version of app loads the video on Oppo.
However - in WhatsApp, when trying to send a video clip on Oppo, camera opens, but when selecting record, it crashes. No such issue on Zenfone.
Just checking this on Samsung and Sony now… Both Note 3 and Z2 can display video in CNN app. As for WhatsApp… Z2 has the same problem. And Samsung is annoying me with the contacts and refuses to start, so I'll test it some other time.
Interesting stuff… Anyone else using CNN app?

A500KL is 4G LTE version with single SIM card and Snapdragon CPU.
Other than that they are mostly identical.
The LTE version costs 30-40% more than 3G version.
Both devices support printing when you have HP/Canon/Samsung (and probably other) drivers loaded. I print to HP MFP directly often. Printer is on LAN, phone on Wifi that connects to same network.
Obviously both come with an internet browser, and can load Firefox, Chrome,…
For remote connection to my computers I generally use Teamviewer. Used it since iPad version came out. I also have a few other ones installed, like LogMeIn and such, but I always found TeamViewer the most reliable.
The other way around, where you can control phone with computer, is available through PC Link software, which comes preinstalled on the phone but you need to download the computer portion.
I don't know if this is sufficient for you.

Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG and A500KL. What is different between this two? Also What is the price for this two? I’m confusing coz Flipkart has just increase its price I think. Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG Rs. 10490. I remember the last price I show, it was Rs. 9999
Which one is best? I mean I'm new in smart phone. My last phone was an Japanese Vitto V71 with too must facility

Hii.,, I am using zenfone 5 for two months.since 25 days phone earpiece is not working. 20 days before when I do system update earpiece gets working . 1 Day later same problem started.I can hear calls by speaker.Is it bug or anything. Pls help me. otherwise phone is awesome.

I have found one bug (dont ... moreAs I've never listened to radio on it I had to test this.
Here are the findings:
- when you let the phone go to sleep, and you press power button, there are 2 ways it can "wake up" - either by showing FM Radio screen, or showing home screen.
- I have tested both, by pressing home button to get home screen, or not pressing it, to get FM radio screen on pressing power button
- in both cases the volume buttons were working (on both A501CG and A500KL) when screen was off, and when turning the screen on with power button
Both phones have full last version of firmware installed (JB for 501CG, KK for 500KL) with all the apps updated to last version.
This could however be something that another application, or missing update could do.
I would therefore recommend visiting PlayStore and under review of application, writing this.
Usually the ZenUI team is responsive and fixes the issues found timely.
Last note: I have only waited 2 minutes before trying to use volume buttons, after screen turned off. I have also turned it myself in another test, but all had the same result. It is possible, that if I left it a longer time, results could be different.
How long time since screen turned off did you wait before testing?

The market keeps changing. And what was considered well-priced, good "bang for buck" just a few months ago, is no longer so.
Asus' entry into budget arena ruffled the feathers among the likes of Xiaomi and other local brands, forcing them to offer even more for less. This is good for consumers, and I think in not too distant future will start forcing the big names to follow suit to sell.
Samsung's and Apple's vast marketing budgets and tie-ins with the mobile operators try to make you believe they are the only ones in the market. But people are starting to look for cheaper alternatives, and when those come with a recognised logo printed on the box - they will be far more willing to part with their money.
That's good news for Asus.
But can you get a cheaper yet more powerful phone than Zen? Definitely. There are many.
One, however, should consider the whole package. And on Zen it's not about the specs. Those are mediocre.
The real value on Zen is the excellent user interface, and above average production quality.

Hi Tomazz & other frnds,
I have found one bug (dont know sw bug or hw defect), when i am playing fm radio (just open fm radio & lock ur screen), the vol down button not working though the vol up working. but if fm is played in backgruond, say browsing the web with fm playing in back & the lock ur screen then col up & down all are working. also in case of music apps both of them are working when screen is locked. when fm is palying & screen is not locked all is well. Pls reply if it can be a sw bug or a hw one. thanks in advance.

A friend of mine, Hugo from Xiaomi, once said that the reason they steal all the designs from Apple is to show appreciation for Apple, and not because they didn't want to pay for the designers. I'll let him know what good customers he has :)
Thank you for your suggestions, they might help those still deciding on what to buy.
Those considering the mentioned phones though, do check what frequencies your operators are using, as all those mentioned work only on 900/2100 MHz so for me, for example, they are useless like Asus Padfone.
Please also note that your Redmi Note is not really comparable to Zenfone 5 but rather Zenfone 6, which has 3300 mAh battery, so your complete argument is invalid.
As for yourself, do decide whether you have Zenfone 5, or you don't have it but your nephew has it (or rather he had it as it's now smashed), or you only have Redmi Note or… It's good to be consistent.
Finally… you know, a power bank doesn't cost any more than 9H glass sheet, and isn't half as annoying to drag with you as what the tempered glass does to the touch response of your phone the moment you fix it to your screen.
