I am having problems with my earphones since last few days. My device is only a month old and now whenever I plug-in the earphones the volumes are increasing and decreasing like crazy and the Google assistant is getting launched occasionally. I tried using different earphones too but no help.
I just deposited my phone at one of the authorized service centers and they're saying it will take 5-7 days to get this fixed. Now I am totally regretting not buying OnePlus6.

-these are just to get an idea of modern cellphones and batt, from the 4º qtr of 2015 to 4º qtr of this year:
-There are exceptions of course-
Gamer intense use: 2 hrs. (Overheating)
Intense use: 3 or 4 hrs batt.
Moderate use: 6 to 8 hrs.
Light/Casual use: 24 hrs.
Just checking from time to time: from 24 to 48 hrs.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018Post recent software update my phone battery is dragging fa... moreHullo. Just give it a shoot to the new updates... maybe in 2 or 3 days the batt gets self-calibrated by the software...
Repeting, but not flooding intention:
Hullo... What you are experience is normal... it will overheat a little bit with fast charge (said up to 40 to 42º C in torrid climate)...
Normally, android based-phones-batteries takes up to 2 or 3 days to calibrate correctly... if not... you can reset caches. Usually it works.
I would not expect any more than 4 to 5 hr power-on-screen... with normal brightness... with low brightness add half an hour more. Left alone games... demanding ones, will deplete your 3.300mAh snapdragon device in two and a half hour if NOT sooner...
If you are a gamer, remember... more temperature, fastest discharge... as i always said, 45ºC or above will made your battery go down from 100% to 70% in a few minutes... is normal for lithym batts.
I HIGHLY recommend not to use the phone while fast charging... even i would made a deterrent statement:
NEVER fast charging your phone while gaming or using 3g/4g/5g based app... of course depends the network quality of your country. -antents tends to heat up a little bit-. Double truth for Asus phones.
With wi-fi the temperature will stand up a little better.

Very well said, and i wish my countrys´ market were as open as yours, but regretly it is not...
i personally consider Asus, an excelent brand to go if i want a flagship killer with superb performance. And i will recommend it, with its shortcomings, from Zenfone 2 Zoom and on, without any doubt.
Salute, sir...

Apart from the camera, everything about this phone is very satisfying. More speed than you need, screen is beautiful, battery is good (always gets you through the day with juice to spare) and even the software is something I like. Dual sim operation works perfect and wifi and 4G speeds are great. The camera however, is not a strong point. Coming from a Samsung S7, the 5Z camera is a step backwards when it comes to details. When zooming in on pictures, things start too look like a soft, blurry painting. The S7 and also the Nokia 7 Plus (which I traded back in for the 5z hoping on an even better camera) have much more details in pictures.

Am perfectly satisfied with this phone :D Only improvement could have been the battery. A 3500 mah would have been perfect while 3700 mah would have made this phone a beast :)
Camera: More than what i need in a mobile
Performance: SD 835, so goes without saying
Display: Amazing, no complaints. Though i have faced some weird issue with touch at times, but goes away with device restart. So some software glitch may be, can be ignored.
Sound: Best in class ! Its not a true dual speaker, but better than its rivals any day
I got this for 22,500 INR (USD 300 approx). Worth every penny :D

amang, 13 Nov 2018Asus zenfone 5z do feel premium, and better than Poco F1, I... moreThere are no perfect phone, what you are complaining doesn't speak to many budget flagship phone at the same price point.
1. Android 8.0 and 8.1 are not much different, you won't notice any different. Android 9.0 is still very new, even very expensive flagship device doesn't ship with Android 9.0. You should appreciate more it's performance with SD845 rather than worry about Android version. It is already very much optimized on Android 8.0. You just need to patiently wait ASUS to update it to Android 9.0.
2. It is a budget flagship device, so their camera are respectable to their price tag. It's camera is claimed to be better than the more expensive Oneplus 5. I know, you might want to compare to the camera quality of P20 Pro, Mate 20 Pro, Note 9. If you have the money to buy those, then why not?
At last, it is typical human's always unsatisfied mindset where they want the cheaper priced stuff to perform or outperform the more expensive product, which in reality never going to happen.
That is also the same reason why some people upgrades their smartphone often, even the one that they are still using still perfectly usable. (Except those brand that make their older product under perform, such as recently fined Samsung and Apple brand product, which they purposely make their old product to slowdown)

Undone, 12 Nov 2018Maybe you are right, Asus phone is a beautiful.
Where i ... moreIt is the Asian country market. At here, we can buy many Chinese and Taiwan brand with their original presence. We can choose not only Oneplus, Honor, Xiaomi, but also OPPO, Vivo, Meizu, ZTE, Lenovo, then the late OPPO Realme brand. Doogee, Homtom and Wiko also made actual presence, but simply they are just ripoff brand.
The least presence brand is LG, totally missing this year.
So, there are a lot to choose from at my country. I never say Oneplus is bad, but they no longer is the affordable option.
ASUS this year actually take direct competition to these Chinese brand, especially Xiaomi and Honor where ASUS finally drop their price to challenge their competitor with respectable specs, and even sell cheaper than their competitor.
I am one of those early hand to use their smartphone this year, and they are really priced aggressively, and their smartphone launching this year all are very good.
I am not praising them just for the sake of praising.
I dare to say they are now the proper alternative to Xiaomi brand, which always sell their phone at near cost price but with high spec. Their Zenfone Max Pro M1 offer almost the same spec as Redmi Note 5 Pro, and are sold at cheaper price. This Zenfone 5z 128GB version actually sold cheaper than Xiaomi Mi8 128GB and it's pricing is very close to Pocophone F1 128GB.
My vote this year goes to ASUS as the new flagship killer brand.

It is definitely this year on... moreAsus zenfone 5z do feel premium, and better than Poco F1, I just dont like few 5Z.
1. The phone is still on Android Oreo 8.0, no major update, (8.1 or 9.0) till now.
2. Although the camera's are good, but they are not according to flagship grade, specially front cam.

It is definitely this year on... moreMaybe you are right, Asus phone is a beautiful.
Where i live, Honor, OnePlus and Xiaomi have neither presence not interest at all... not even slightly known...
But to be fair... Asus have no presence either, but its a little bit more sounded, because of motherboards, etc...
I think that OnePlus is a very good phone, that fares well in an all-around, but its not the best in anything... I have some respect for the brand, seeing its daily performance.
Again, to be fair, you are mostly right, like Honor and Xiaomi, with an agressive branding marketing in da web.
I didnt see the new P20, which i consider promising.
Probably Asus, never forgetting its shortcomings, is an underrated brand, because its started a little bit too late in the phones market.
