Do me a favour and get the S10 or Pixel 6, then test out the fingerprint sensors (or even watch extensive videos of people trying them out). You'll see that you're finger is actually hitting the sensor, but due to thee sensor being so inaccurate, even the slightest off-angle will cause a misread. Also, try setting up your fingerprint at different angles, at different pressure points, and don't keep your finger that long on the sensor when unlocking it. Just a word of advice

Cuz this phone is geared towards compact but performance-centric individuals, hence they didn't have the space for big battery. Don't worry though, as there is an abundance of 865 870 chipset phones on the market. Including: Oneplus 8 Pro, S20/ S20 FE, Motorola Edge 20 Pro, Realme X50 Pro/GT Neo, Oppo Reno 6 Pro, Sony Xperia 5 II.

BudgetGuy, 25 Oct 2021They have the worst software support ever. One major update... moreThey've been pretty quick with the updates so far on mine. My general opinion, I'm yet to see any ramdump and would say it's almost an awesome experience using the Zenfone 8 but not quite because I think the fingerprint reader badly lets it down. Other than that I'm very pleased.

They have the worst software support ever. One major update and a year of minor updates at most. But the build quality is great. but i will not gonna buy anything from ASUS anytime soon. Not again. Traumatizing.

And couldn't get any warranty...
So I don't recommend before this issue had resolved.

I have 256GB working fine after a day.. with the exception of the fingerprint reader which simply doesn't work. It will let me store fingerprints, so it must be reading something, but will recognize nothing when it comes to unlocking the phone. I have the latest updates so there must be some software/firmware disconnect somewhere.

Mrwhostheboss being the prime person, his Zenfone 8 video has over 3 million views on YouTube and probably convinced many people to buy this shoddy product. Me included but I returned before I opened it thankfully after seeing all the issues online. Such a shame because it really is the perfect phone in so many ways, yet so flawed. This should become a major controversy on twitter, Mrwhostheboss should address this.
