i ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERYTHING about this phone, EXCEPT the fact that ALL the navigation is left up to the trackball itself. I am a devoted blackberry user and am currently using the blackberry 8100, and i had to pull open the damn trackball like 3x so far cuz it starts to act all crazy after about 1yr n a half n doesnt wana detect movement/navigation around the screen properly. so what would be the SOLUTION?
PLEASE blackberry, makes the "return button" and "menu" button slightly smaller so you can slap a sort of D-pad navigation below the screen somewhere!!!PLEASE!

bb phones are the handiest phone around for business use. The rest is for teenagers. With this Bold even the juveniles will think twice.

A video Call Camera in front is the only thing the Bold is missing... besides that it's a o.k.

the specs is awesome! It can really compete with high-end windows mobile phone. But surely it will going to be expensive (sigh).

Yeah this is "trying" to be an iPhone!!!! Black all around with a silver edge??? Icons look very similar to iPhone icons, only worst. The BB browser will not come anything close to Safari on the iPhone!!! Once they can get a half decent browser, maybe I'll consider.

A BlackBerry that I actually like!? Cool! I think I'll be Bold!
I've been a dedicated Nokai / Sony Ericsson guy for years, but I think this is the one for me.

why blackberry has never put a video call camera on their phone?
i suppose it's quite important for business users, and it's not a high end technology isn't it?
i wouldn't mind paying for an extra 50$ for a nice video call camera =)

If you are going to purchase the BB Bold 9000,you just as well buy a SlingBox to, because Sling Media has already picked this device out to be Slingbox/SlingPlayer mobile compatable. That means you will have live TV anywhere on your BBB 9000 3g,wifi,624 MHz processor super UFO speed mobile device. Now with this new BBB 9000 the game has changed, who said that the BB is a all business device, not anymore. It's now a business and entertainment mobile device.

I promise this is the last one! With regards to usage on 3G bands including voice and data. As long as the network in each of those countries/regions supports those services the new BB will be able to take advantage of them. It is not usually restricted by the device but by the local networks capabilities..

One thing I missed. The built in GPS cn be used for Blackberry maps or with other third party apps like Google Maps or a sat nav application. For example, without advertising the network, one UK provider allows you to download the satnav software onto your phone and you then pay £5 a month subscription for access to the maps and traffic updates etc. So no charge up front for the software and you get the most up to date maps direct to your phone wherever you are.

This should clarify a few points regarding the BlackBerry Bold in response to previous comments:
- 'Terrible features' This phone has fantastic features and is one of the most high spec phones to be released on the market bar the camera.
- 'Traditional look' What is this about?? All BB have this look and have evolved over the last 2 years.
- 'Samsung is the best' What planet do you live on? and which Samsung do you use? By the way, hows the battery life?
- 'Cameraless version' For all of those who want a cameraless version. On a BES the admin can turn off the camera rendering it completely unusable.
- 'N95' Software?? It has no outstanding extra features differentiating it from the Bold apart from the camera. It has no qwerty keyboard and does not have the BB push email. The N95 is supposed to be a multimedia phone whereas the Bold is primarily a business phone. So essentially they both serve different functions.
- 'iphone look a like' This looks nothing like an iphone nor is it trying to be like an iphone.
- 'Useless wifi & does not have IM' WiFi does work and is useful to save data usage. All BB have BB IM and you can download EQO to use MSN/Yahoo/google/most other IM apps.
- 'Radio' Why?? What is the point? It has(potentially) the ability to take a 16GB memory card. Also how often do you use the radio and it is useless underground.
- 'no video player & no hot swap' New BB have video record and have hot swap memory card.
- 'Office apps' All BB can have office apps downloaded to the device and have been able to read office docs.
- Just an extra note. The feeling from Blackberry haters is that the phone is very limited and restricitve in terms of the applications that can be used. On the contrary, whilst out the box the phone may not have an array of applications and programs there are ones freely available on the internet for download which allow the device to do pretty much anything software based. For example, current Blackberrys can view word documents, excel spreadsheets, pdf documents etc. but cannot edit them. There are options available from various third party companies that will allow you to edit the documents. Additionally some in the past have expressed dissatisfaction with the browser. This can again be solved by guess what? Another third party software download.

Re: BlackBerry "BOLD".....
Concerning UMTS, 3G radio bands, my questions are:
Is this device compatible for 3G, UMTS voice and data services in:
1)Japan? Voice? Data?
2)North America? Voice? Data?
3)Europe? Voice? Data?
4)Middle East? Voice? Data?
5)Australia? Voice? Data?
Thank you!
