JRF, 31 Mar 2010Well, from what I know (off of crackberry.com mostly) some ... moreForgot to add, if (big IF there) you are able to use the web, services like BBM, chat clients (WLM, Yahoo, AOL) and push email won't be usable since these need to go through the BB servers. Which is why BIS is a very recommended must for BB. Not even the FB or Myspace apps would work.
If I were to choose between a BB without BIS and any other phone, I'd go for another phone. I'm really happy with my Blackberry, but before I got hooked I didn't want to bother with one since I switched phones often and knew that I wouldn't be able to use internet if I had a BB and non BB. But I guess I'm so pleased now that I don't switch phones anymore... maybe I needed a Blackberry all along!

Even some users from the UK. But in my country, Mexico, you can't buy a Blackberry without the BB plan, since it doesn't work on a 3G plan. What I'm thinking is that, since some of them mentioned having the ATT browser or something like that, that that is what they use instead of the default browser, or maybe they use Bolt or Opera Mini. The only way to be sure is if you ask a Rep even though they don't always seem to know that much. Only one operator here, a CDMA one, offered me a Storm without BIS, but with 3G internet. So maybe it depends on the carrier and country? Sorry I can't offer any help other than that. Let me know if I explained myself clearly enough!

Will the 30 dollar data and text plan work for the bb 9700? my apology for the repetetive questions. just making sure it works.

just clarifying it because blackberrian (another bb user) replied to me stating that regular data plans won't work. A Blackberry data plan is a must.

Any ways, just to answer quickly, Blackberry phones are fully compatible with regular data plans, as almost everything (Facebook, push email, chats and BBM) requires RIM's servers to push the data to the device. I think internet browsing is possible with AT&T.

so based on ur quest bro,i do not think that ur currently PDA unlimited data will support to the BB..coz BB is using the BIS(blackberry internet service)..i have told by my carrier b4 i purchased the gemini(gemini is my 1st BB),that in order to use the internet n get all the benefits out from my BB i must to sign up for the BIS..n the BIS is different from other data package plan..it is specially for BB handset only..meaning to say,if u r using a BB,definitely u need to sign up the BIS..while if u use samsung, nokia, sony,LG n so on,then u can use any data package that available in ur local network provider..thats was what they told me about 2-3 months b4..so,in ur peace of mind y not u consult with ur network provider regarding this matter..

I am using that data and text plan for my nokia smartphones. The bb 9700 unlimited data and text plan is 50 dollars (which is ridiculous).

can anyone help me on this one?

i had a moto q 9h before also and used att's unlimited data and text plan of 30 dollars (without using the moto pda plan of 50 dollars). It worked.

if it doesn't work, ill just purchase the e72.

I'm thinking about getting the Blackberry. I'd like to try something new since I've had a Nokia a Samsung and a SE.
You're also right about Nokia coming out with a better phone every 2-3 month~ that's the way they are, how the telephone market works for them. Really feels like a bummer when you tell yourself, "If I waited 3 more months I could get the n97mini instead of the n97. (Example)"

can another att unlimited pda data and text plan of 30 dollars work on the bb 9700 or a bb data plan is required for the web to work? att bb data plan is 50 dollars (ridiculous), while the unlimited pda data and text plan is 3o dollars.
