    JRF, 30 Mar 2010I'm an ex-n85-user-now-using-BB8520. I have to agree with ... moreIn regards to a 3.5 g signal, I am referring to the high and mid range nokia smartphones such as the n95, n96, n97, n85, 5800 xm, e72, e55, e75, e72, n93i, n93....etc...etc.

your n85 is probably a defect one. the n95 and 5800 xm are the two most popular nokia smartphones because they are stable and solid, paving the way for other nokia smartphones in the n-series and express music line-ups. although the cpu may be the same or slightly higher or lower, the OS's are different( s60 3rd, 4th, 5th edition). firmware updates renews nokia devices.

i fiddled the bb 9700 at the att store earlier today. it is nice. I may get one.

I have to agree with you in most part, since what you've said seems very fair not those fanboy comments people sometimes give.
I would like to add that not all nokia 3G phones have 3.5G as there are a few (I can only think of the e63 right now) that don't support HSDPA, meaning a much slower 3G connection. It also depends on carriers since not all of them offer the fastest 3G, especially not in developing countries. Not only Nokia give you less internal memory. My 8520 comes with 256mb of memory but in reality, the OS leaves you with about 130mb. One thing I hate about my BB, is that apps can only be installed within the internal memory itself and not the SD card. Also, something I've noticed is that Nokia's offer an easier way of managing open apps, long press menu and hit delete or press menu and close to exit out of the app. BB doesnt, you have to open it and press menu, and then press menu and close it, or press the back key for certain apps. BB phones are fast also for internet, but slower than others because the data has to go through RIM's servers before reaching the device itself. With the BIS 3.0 upgrade, internet has been faster on my Gemini but still not as fast as other non-bb phones.

On the FW point, I never recieved FW updates. I was always told that I had the latest. To use the most recent one, I had to change my product code to a euro version one and then recieve that update. Something I didn't want to do. For BB, all you need to do is delete the "vendor.xml" file for an OS to work on it.

And most Nokias haven't really been any different than the N95. They even use the same processors on most phones, and BB is the same except that they use different processors on different models. Symbian S60 at least gave a nicer Options layout, but that's just eye candy.

Between Blackberry and Nokia smartphones, I would prefer the more stable Blackberry. I haven't had any problems, and most problems are easily solved. While I did everyhting I could for my N85 to be bug-free, it just didn't want to work for me. My mom has no trouble on her N95, don't know why my n85 didn't give me the same experiance.

jtvn, 29 Mar 2010Awesome battery life. Great keypad. Fast connectivity. Nice... moreIf you think the 9700 has the worst camera ever I think you need to check your camera settings. The Camera is fantastic and better than some phones with a much higher pixel count.

BB, 22 Mar 2010BB is very fast in: 1)- Browsing 2)- Moving through app... more"1)- slow in browsing
2)- 128 internal storage, u will end up with 55MB ( cos of system usage)
          3)-not simple as BB
4)- sometime takes long time to move through app.
5)- opening New Message takes 3-5 seconds to open."

1-untrue...nokia smartphones have a 3.5 g signal for web browsing. if the signal isnt full the 3g signal takes over. also, depends on your location. firmware updates are available according to the release date.
2-true.... clear the privacy setting to free some mb (which is easy to do wit one click of a button)
3-untrue....simple and easy to navigate like a blackberry.
          4-somewhat true...close some apps
          5-untrue...my 5800 and n95 takes a second.

Anya, 22 Mar 2010Peeps! Appreciate if you guys could assist me on this. ... morebb 9700 and e72

the difference is the price of the data plan in at&t.

both are great pda phones. e72 has more features though and a 5 mp with a led flash that can flash up to 3 feet.
            nonetheless, 9700 has great features.

for more reviews of the e72 go to the nokia forum and compare the specs of the e72 and the bb 9700. good luck!

Isabella Marie, 22 Mar 2010Blackberry Bold 9700 is the best phone. Very elegant! Yah! ... more"Nokia phones are embarrassing because after a few months they will release again new units - which can make the customers regret because the new units were much better than the nokia phones they already have."

you probably don't know the firmware updates for nokia. the old units' firmware or software can be updated via nokia software updater to acquire the latest firmware of the new units. so need for the new units or models. the old and new units of nokia smartphones are pretty much similar. only difference is the firmware.

nokia embarasses people like you that truly don't know nokia smartphones..no offense.

nokia smartphones are great also, if you explore them.

e72 vs bb 9700...i'll get the 9700 to experience bb as i have experienced the iphone and win mo devices. also because att carries a refurbish 9700 that has a cheap a price. i'll wait for the price of the

BB, 22 Mar 2010BB is very fast in: 1)- Browsing 2)- Moving through app... morethe 5 things you listed about nokia is untrue.

Nokia smartphones are fast also. I am a nokia user..currently using 5800 xm and n95. nokia has a firmware update each time a smartphone is release.
nokia smartphones is also very user friendly and easy to navigate.

again, as you said it is matter of a preference...=).

i am currently deciding between the e72 and bb 9700. both phones in my opinion are both unique...each have different capabilies and features. i'll probably get the bb 9700 to experience it. I'll wait for the e72's price to go down.
