Jrf, 28 Dec 2009Well, it depends. If you're in to streaming vids and pictur... moreI agree with Jrf. The most important think is your need vs budget, which is value of money. Everyone knows that 9700/9000/8900 is having more features than 8520. My father just bought one BB 8520. Since he only use it for phone call, sms, & mail, then it fits his need... with reasonable cost, of course.

bbaddict, 29 Dec 2009hey .. im going to buy tbb curve 8520 tomorrow . it's kin... moreJudging by your name, you are a BB user or a great admirer of BB, so I guess you know that you'd need BIS for this to work fully? Being in high school I don't think you are willing to buy a more expensive BB so this entry level phone is a great phone to go with. It offers the same thing as the more expensive ones but keeping the price low by giving a flash-less camera with fixed focus, and a more plastic-y build. But the phone works great. If you already own a BB and, say it has better specs, than don't buy it. Unless your really fond of the looks and don''t care that it doesn't differ much from the others. If you own one of the older BB's then, this would make a great and cheap upgrade with the new OS and I think a faster processer. The camera I don't think has changed much. And if you don't use a BB than be sure you're willing to have the BIS service activated otherwise it would be completely useless. PLay around with it if you can to see if you like the feel of the keypad and stuff.

JRF, 29 Dec 2009Well, in terms of performance, this is a great phone. I've ... moreI accidently deleted something. The great thing is that in my country I have the possibilty to use the BIS service through prepaid services and I don't have to go into a contract. I change phones often and didn't want to have a contract and be stuck only to BB phones. But the great thing is with the prepaid service I can use my Gemini plus a Bold and have 3G and Edge with the 2 phones. Then I just cancel the subscription and change my phone for any other I want later. If you can do this than, I'd definitely use it. But, like I said, it's mainly for email and messaging. Emails, instant messaging and facebook were great on the EDGE connection. But if you have a contract with 3G services than I'd think of getting something else.

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2009Hey buddy.. Ya,i agree with what u said..act,i also hv tho... moreWell, in terms of performance, this is a great phone. I've never owned a BB but my gf had the Nextel one,8350i, and I liked it. So I decided to get this one since the Curve 8900 and the Bold 9000 are more expensive (8900= $600 Bold= $700 dlls). This has been one of the most stable phones I've used. My SE P1i (Symbian UIQ) was a great phone but it did have it tiny flaws like restarting after a few hours of usage but only like 1 or 2 times a month. Before this I had the N85, and it had so many bugs that it deleted my pictures and songs for no reason and I sold it for 100 dlls after paying 600. I've had other phones but the only smartphones would be the P1i, N85, and this BB. Being an entry phone I didn't expect much but in reality it surprised me how stable it was. The camera is great in good lighting but can't do much compared to my n85. Music quailty is loud enough and clear enough, and screen is excellent under the sun. The one and only thing I thought I'd have trouble with was the BIS with EDGE. But, this phone, as most blackberry's, exists for email and messaging. The edge connection was great for emails (arrived in seconds even with a picture from the camera) and my facebook and msn messenger were just as fast. Websites also loaded fast enough since the web goes through BB's servers to minimize the data flow, Wi-Fi was faster but not that much a difference. The great But, I would mainly recommend this for emailing and instant messaging. If you have a contract with 3G then I wouldn't go with BB having so many other options.
