The reason for not puttng 3g on it is because it would be a little more expensive on contracts. The reason why the blackberry phones are more expensive is because they have what other phones do not have and that is the blackberry server - Where you can send and recieve unlimited emails and browse for free as well - Another thing is that when you are browsing on the internet under the blackberry server your internet is pretty fast even if you have the basic internet

vsg, 03 Sep 2009hey buddy howzz d display n music output... n camera.. i`m ... moreIt's a fact that you will get more attention from people around you when you have a 8520 as compared to e71. After all, it's a smaller and thinner cool looking Blackberry. But, here's what I have noticed so far.

8520 is almost twice as faster than e71 and the new touch-pad works great over Nokia's old school joystick. The operating system look and performance is highly advanced on 8520 than e71. The camera is faster on 8520 but, quality on both of them isn't that good (both are business phones not multimedia so, no complaints). in fact, I don't use the camera that much and I like others taking my picture instead of me taking theirs haha.

Music quality on both is almost the same on both but, you can always use your favorite 3.5 mm headset with 8520 which you can't do with e71 because it has 2.5 mm jack (so less number of options). You can use the same data cable to transfer files and charge 8520 at the same time but, Nokia doesn't give this functionality. I am used to carry a single cable since I had my Motorola V3i and IPhone so, I din't wanna downgrade myself here.

On the other hand, display quality on e71 is the winner. There are Gigs of free software available for Nokia on the internet and you will need to pay for basic internet plan to have internet on your e71. If you had Blackberry, the price will move almost twice to have all those functionalities. The keypad on blackberry is more clear to read at day and night but, I had more comfort in typing on e71 (even if they keys were relatively closer than on 8520). 8520 feels very plastic and somewhat cheap but, e71 feels great and rich. On top of all. battery backup on e71 is just twice than what you will get on 8520. So, if you talk or travel much, e71 is your best bet. I don't stay out more so, I am okay with 4.5 hours of talk time or charging it every alternate day. I don't use 3G or GPS so e71 didn't attract me there too.

Anyway to be honest, I can't really tell which one is better over the other. Both are great in their own features and you won't regret buying any of those. I would suggest just buy the one which you like more and you may always sell it for lesser price after using it for a month or two if you didn't like it much. Let's not be dependent on what others say. It's just a phone so what harm could it do besides an expense couple of bucks.

    Enjoy :)

Alright, finally bought one and got it unlocked to use on Vodafone. It works great. Yeah, my typing speed has reduced as compared to what I used to have with IPhone. However, it's okay. I am still faster than the person on the other side. I am having a good experience with it. Call quality, GUI, performance and music; all work great. It's definitely worth buying it.

Guys (& Gals - lest someone thinks this is a biased forum)
Does anyone know if this phone comes bundled with software that allows me to edit MS Office attachments (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)? I know that we can view the attachments (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat). Since I am planning to have a mobile office kind of phone, I am more interested in these features.
                    Any useful response's really appreciated.
                    Thanks,
                    Vin.

It is a gr8 phone,im using it for the past so many days and all the features are good and the touch pad is fabulous. And e71 is no comparison to 8520.jst not having 3g doesnt mean the phone is all bad cuz 8900 which is supposedly a good phone i agree also dooesnt have 3g.Bottom line this a gr8 phone by BB and i love it.
