As to Anonymous below, I have a Memoir and I don't think there's much comparison between it and the BlackBerry 8900. The Memoir is a camera with a phone. It doesn't have a processor. It's nice for multimedia, but the 8900 is a business oriented phone. They're unique to their particular audience. I love my Memoir. It's picture quality is incredible, but it has some quirks in the UI. I wouldn't mind having a 8900 for it's wi-fi, open qwerty keyboard, big/bright screen, and business apps. However, I already have a Nokia 5310, the Memoir, and a Nokia 6600 fold, so another phone isn't in my immediate future. If Nokia ever gets their 5800 ear speaker and NAM 3G problems resolved I'll be getting it before anything else.

Is this phone slow to use? As in, messaging, phoning or for general usage etc?
Im looking into getting the curve for my next upgrade but the girl in the phone shop said it was slow, kind of like a pda rather than a phone.
I currently have a samsung if that helps. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks.

GSM is the standard (80% of all phones) in EVERY country except Japan and Korea and I guess soon to be Australia.....so RIM should start putting out #G phones because 2 1/2 countries run by 3G, are you kidding. Most people want 3G for the sake of saying "my phone is #G" and in many cases the average person theat buys a phone for 3G not only don't need it and couldn't tell the difference.......

its amazing that large companies like RIM are still producing phones that are non 3G. Especially when you have countries like Japan and soon to be Australia that have switches off their 2G networks. Ridiculous.

blackberry is a good phone but they're known for not combining 3G and wifi under one model which i think too illogical thats why not all fellas wants to buy it desperately unlike the newer units like omnia and the like. We should pay for the right model and useful tools.

the screen resolution is mad. i own a bold, which has absolutely fantastic screen, but considering the screen of the curve is a bit smaller and with more pixels, it will be a great joy for the eyes.

Mat, 11 Mar 2009No 3G in this day and age? I wonder why the left that out? ... moreThis is a truly amazing phone. I never really thought I'd own a Blackberry they seemed like they just weren't stylish enough and lacked the multimedia abilities that I like. However this isn't the case with the Curve 8900. This phone is very fast considering it lacks 3G. However this phone that i tested and the people at T-Mobile tested showed that its on par with most of the 3G enabled phones out there and this is only on the EDGE system. The Wi-Fi is so simple to set up and seamlessly connects and changes modes without a hitch. The speaker is outstanding this between this and the Blackberry Bold 9000 both are very loud however it seems like the 8900 has a small ammount of distortion, but then that could just me how I'm hearing it. You don't miss calls with this phone, unless you're in a very loud area. A 3.2 Megapixle camrea is begining to become out of date but it still performs nicely for every day shots and the LED flash is very bright. It took me a lil while to get used to it because this is my first PDA phone but its one I'll keep for a very long time. All in all this is a very good device that won't dissapoint. The phone hardware and a few added applications, make this one of the best phones out there. It dose lack 3G, but unless you honestly need that extra second or two it won't dissapoint. Its a very stylish device and excellent performer. And for everything its able to do and the speeds it dose it in, the price ain't half bad either.
