blackberry pearl looks very slick and also the design has a great feel to it.
overal the battery life isnt too bad, im actually always out of my office most times so its the right phone for emails, i find the keypads are very easy to use, and the suretype is just great. and the tracking ball is very easy to move around!.
they could of made it slightly better with louder sound quality and also call quality on blackberry isnt that great.
you can change fonts and also themes . very good phone . i would actually rate it 7/10 .

Hi there, I run a small Security business and I just signed up today for the $79 Blackberry Pearl 8100. I have read all the comments and I look forward to letting you guys know how it works.
All I want to do is be able to recieve emails and send emails. While I am not at the office I am told by Optus that the phone will recieve emails as well as the computer. So I can either delete fron the phone which will also remove from the computer if I wish.
Optus gave me a blackberry direct number and told me that when i recieve the phone I can ring that number and they will sort me out.
Well I will do that and let you know how I get on. Again all I want to do is be able to access emails from my Vehicle and down the track use excel on it sometimes.

The phone is nice. I like it the only thing i do not like is, I noticed it started deleting my text messages and my call log...I called tmobile and they told me it's a problem with the blackberry's. So if i don't take the battery out and reset it every day or even twice a day everything is deleted. Not kewl. Anyone know of any better phones? This is ridiculous.

Anyone knows or have knowledge about the software applications for this phone. I have been searching for different kind of software
programs for the phone, but do I need a window base or othe OS to run it appropriately. I am a little confuse with that if someone can tell me more about it And is there any other pre-install program that I need to have the program work.

Hi all you can resolve the 2 second delay when answering calls by following the below have also attached a few more handy hints!!!
Number recognition - callers number is not recognised. This is a settings issue. Go to the phone app (press the send key), select options, then Smart Dialling. Set the Country code to +44 (for UK)
Delay on microphone - When users answer an incoming call, there is a delay of 2-3 seconds before they can be heard Go into the call log and press the menu key Scroll to OPTIONS and select Highlight SMART DIALLING and select Scroll to and select to access office extensions within my corporation call number: wait for: and change to “my response” Now scroll to and select access extensions in all other corporations call the number then wait for: and change to “my response” Now reboot the device

There's couple things I wanted to mention about this new phone. First, it is very impressive with the engineer and design. I have been using other phones before;my first phone was a Nokia, then a Sony Ericsson and a Samsung. And this time I choose the Blackberry Pearl Smartphone because it has so many bells and whistles, there's alot of things I can do with this phone. Good for the job or you have personal business you need to used. Secondly, the phone is quite different from other phone, it's sharp design and lightweighted easy to carry around.Phones which is heavy and bulky is not a good choice to own. Last, this phone is very clear when having a conversation with your friends or coworkers. To me this phone is excellent.

To enable your address book to recognise the same phone numbers whether internationally prefixed or domestic go into> Phone Options>Smart Dialing>and put in your country code and Area code and national no length.

No linkage between the SAME # if it is written with country code or without. ex. If u save a # such as 050 6541567 with the corresponding name "Henry" & u receive a call from Henry +971 50 6541567, the name "Henry would not appear" & vice versa. Quote "It is very irritating when the network u r on sends the telephones WITHOUT country code so then u have to save them WITHOUT the country codes so that the name "Henry" appears, & then u go roaming & u want to call "Henry"; hence u have to edit the number to put country code & then dial"
Whoever posted this you can do it!! I can't find the option in my settings now but you basically have to set the phone up with country you are based in and it will work this out ofr you so you can put all numbers in as domestic numbers and it will recoginse them from your phone book either way. If I found where it is I will let you know.

I have this phone. I'm normally a very picky person, but this is nuts! I have had it for over a month now, and I am not happy with the phone at all. First of all, when I got the phone, two days later, the browser, media net, and text messaging broke. I had the phone completely wiped out, with the help of the Desktop Manager, and the media net and browser were fixed, yet my text messaging remains broken. The number they call to fix the phone never worked. So, it will apparently remain broken. I won't accept that. I have found that my picture memory ran out already, and when I went to take important photos on my phone, they showed up as large, red X's. I had to pull out a second phone. A third Micro-SD card now has to be purchased for my phone. The Desktop Manager is horrible. It tells me often that things have gone wrong, and my phone is constantly being disconnected. Also, I can't figure out how to download videos or music. It seems impossible. My message and call history is never recorded, and the phone tells me I have a missed call, when there really is none. NEVER take out your battery when the phone freezes. It will not end well. One of the worst things about the phone is its speed. I see more hourglasses on the phone than I do anything else. It is embarrassing when other people are around, and you have to restart your phone or remove the battery. Another annoying thing is that the phone "sports" a cheap internet browser. It is not internet at all. You don't get sound effects, videos, music, or just about any advanced feature that you would get on a normal internet browser...Or on the iPhone's browser. Kudos to Apple for that on the iPhone...Nothing else though. All you basically get are colors and words. I was lead to believe that you have both AIM and Microsoft Office on this phone. I read this on both the Blackberry and Cingular sites. It has neither. In addition, the phone feels as if it's made of cheap plastic. The side, chrome pieces feel as if they are going to fall off. It scratches like no other, and it's frustrating. Just because it's a phone, doesn't mean you should cheaply make it. I honestly don't suggest you buy this phone. Good thing I have many others to use.
