Hey Al, your quest. re BIE; to have the ability to have emails pushed to your device you will need to have this service in addition to your voice plan, without it basically you have a phone. BEZ is best however you need to justify cost/usage although in some countries your network supplier may offer free BEZ download but you need to be IT savvy and aware of Terms and conditions.

i have been using blackberry since last 2 years and i find it to be quite user frendly and the battery life is too good to be true its last so longggggggg and i am going to upgrade to the new one in next couple of weeks, and mind you optus plans are not bad atall, i would say the blackberry 79 cap is the best voice and data plan available in market.

Just got the Pearl and NOT happy with it as it not very user friendly. Save your money and buy a nokia and stay away from Optus.

Wondering if anyone has had a problem with the handset and mic not working on this phone. I purchased one recently and it does everything fine, but when i place and receive calls. I am wondering if its just software or if i just got a lemon, lemme know

Hi my company is thinking about getting a BES set up. We have been givn two Blackberry models by the phone company The Pearl and the 8700. The Guys from the phone company said that the Pearl is really fragile. Is this true? Which is the better phone ?

                                Hi Dave,
I had a hard time finding it too, but you go to the menu, under 'profiles', then scroll to the bottom where it says 'advanced...', choose which profile you want to adjust, and then choose which notification you want to change from the list ('SMS text' for text messages, 'Phone' for any incoming calls, etc.)
                                Hope this helps!
                                Ana

How to clean the pearl on the 8100, i m having trouble with moving it to the right on the menu. Scrolling up, down and left is fine, scroling to the right is a problem. Any suggestions?

Very nice versitile little phone, email device, etc etc after a couple of weeks of using it a blackberry is now indispensable. Only comment is; key pad is a bit shiny(hard to see) and 'retro' for my liking, looking forward to the 8310 model.

                                      Hello
I have a small business and am looking to buy a Blackberry Pearl so I can view emails when I am away from the office. The network providers I have looked at offer BlackBerry Internet Solution™ as an additional monthly cost.
Do I need this in order to view my emails?
Any advice/help you can give would be helpful
                                      Many thanks

Just got one of these through work, I used to work for Vodafone and have used A LOT of phones in the last 3 years but this is the best phone I've ever had/used. It's the perfect balance of weight, design and function. Know it's not 3G but I don't miss that, and no wifi either but I got over that very quickly. With the ability to still run things like Google Talk and Google Maps along with all the other standard Blackberry stuff, it's great. Highly recommend it.
