I have this one and the 7130. If my 7130 had the same functions I would choose it over the pearl any day. The pearl's battery life is nothing compared to teh 7130. Also, the camera does stretch images and you have to hold the phone with a very steady hand. The ring tone volume is not nearly as loud. Also, the trackball sometimes gets stuck and will only move in one direction. My keypad has started to come out. I'm not that happy with the pearl overall.

TO DAN :
maybe you should read more on the pearl. you can chg tracks while listening to music press the 4 and 6 buttons. also the phone will automatically dim in dark areas not to make you blind and come back on when in light. the led at the top right will distinguish the lighting situations. try it out.
wat how does that make sense? it dims in the dark? how can u see? and the led thing is a coverage indicator
Does anyone finds that the keys are too small? I'm thinking of buying it but I don't know how the organizer works. Is it easy to use? I need some advice. Thanks
well i dont find the buttons to be small at all and wat organizer are u talkin about?

So called "Pearl" its truly a jem, its one of the best phone i have used so far ( till iPhone comes out) the only thing i can not understand is that in the SMS inbox it dose not give names of the contact even thoug thay are in my contact only if i put the country code before the number only than it displays the name of that person, i have over 800 contacts in my phone and since i change phones as soon as some thing new and goods comes out and i do keep the one's that are good and i would like to keep Pearl but only if some one can fix this problem and help me out. I just got this phone, brand new today from Rogers. Includes a lot of great features. Overall a good phone, but there are things that I didn't like. This is just my opinion:
Music - missing the previous and next buttons, which means you either have to return to the music folder to change songs, or click on the menu button to change songs.
Camera - no recording video feature. Even though the site seems to state that it does have, it may vary for each provider. And I find that when you take images of people, it tends to stretch their appearance...either that or they just gained weight on their face right on the spot.
Sound - even at the loudest, sound isin't that loud at all. The sound is quite unclear, and I have found that when you take off the back plate, which reveals the speaker, it is extremely clear...stupid plate.
Screen - I don't know about you, but sometimes during an application or use of the phone, the brightness just dims.
Media Card - it's located in the phone, behind the battery, which is an inconvient spot.
If you do not mind these things, then I would recommend you getting this phone. Note that if you not plan on using the internet or e-mail features, then this is just a normal phone, therefore suggesting to not get it.

this is the phone to have at the moment. smart enough for a smart business person. techy enough for the geek (like me) who enjoy thirdparty software, and simple enough for the home user!!!!!
email on the go, mp3, camera (better than the 1.3M that have come before!), great web browser and looks to stop traffic!
i work in a phone retailer in the UK and it never fails to close a deal to produce my pride and joy. tmobile flext 35 free phone!!! 7.50 web n walk and 5 for the instant email! stupid deals stupid deals stupid deals!!!!
buy it!!! NOW

Within the last 2 months I'd bought my first two BlackBerry phones:
1) Vodafone 8707v - Absolutely crap; bad reception, blanking in and out of calls, even vodafone live didn't work even though it was a branded phone and we can't forget the crap tech support.)
2) BlackBerry Pearl - As for this little charm, it's certainly a much better phone with fantastic reception. However, despite all the marketing promises and statements the PocketMac product is sh*t. Who in the world released this junk.
I'm a unix admin who uses an Apple Mac. The quality of workmanship and user friendly processes RIM claim to deliver is absolutely misleading and false. If I provided my clients with work and solftware like this crap, besides not being paid, I'd be laughed at. You need to spend some money to employ a professional testing team, because whatever you are currently are doing isn't working.
Just a hit to the RIM team. It's not good enough to develop a phone that is technically well developed, I'm not suggesting yours are, you must deliver a well developed and user friendly experience.
For example: no ones talking about your phones like they talk about the iPhone, and you've been developing phones for years! Don't you think it's time to blow us away with all that experience you've got!
