Got this phone through vodafone on the day of launch. Very disappointed. Large in size as compared to other smart phones. Not user friendly. Crashes 1-2 time a day. Slow in most of application. Returnig it back tomorrow and going for iphone instead. Not worth the wait !!!!!

Nothing else comes close to a BlackBerry Bold in terms of communicating. The iPhone is good at what it does, media, beautiful UI, stable OS, but it doesn't have a functioning multi-tasking OS.

You can't IM with 15 people at a time with an iPhone, with a BlackBerry, it's easy as pie.

The thing is, you can't do that with the BlackBerry Storm, which is really disappointing, since I really was expecting a FAST device, a STABLE and pretty much an improved experience in all departments.

Sadly, the truth is it's just barely usable.

Crossing my fingers they improve on it soon, otherwise Apple's gonna laugh at RIM's face all the way 'til the iPhone Nano and iPhone HD gets released.

BB will NEVER bring out a phone as good as the iphone unless people like you stop buying their products and teach them a lesson. sure every new phone has its issues but whatever happened to QC testing. this was a rushed product and a botched job. by the time blackberry pull their finger out and resolve these issues there will probably be a newer model iphone that will be so amazing i can't even begin to describe what it'll be capable of. sorry barry but BB can RIP. iphone is the future

Could have been a winner. I don't know why RIM did it. I know every smartphone has issues, but as a BlackBerry user, I couldn't find myself using it as my workhorse for a week, so why should i tie myself to an 18 month contract with it then?

            Just my opinion.

Anonymous, 14 Nov 2008Unlimited usage of 500mb applies - therefore not unlimited,... moreJust to clarify a few things people, i work for a leading high street phone company in the UK and 02 DO have a fair use policy on their unlimited data package and it is 200mb. Oranges is 250mb and Voda's is 500.

Secondly, i have an iphone3G.. I have had it since release on July 11th and have been fairly happy with it. Obviously usual things like no MMS and txt forwarding or draft saving is a bit annoying but hey, ill get over it.

Yesterday morning at around 10am i ordered 1 Blackberry Storm from Phones4u's website. delivered today.. enuf said.

Now i havent even picked it up from my royal mail sorting office yet and im already considering returning it. Not because of anything to do with having two contracts, or expenses or anything like that. Just because of what ive been reading in feedback collumns on this website and others.

The truth is, if you havent used it, DONT knock it! I will judge for myself if its slow, unresponsive, big, poor battery etc.. For example battery life can be prolonged by simple things like ensuring a GOOD first charge.. Now to be fair if it lasts a second more than the iphone battery that i might add if you are gonna use the ipod and web a lot then just pull out your m16 now and shoot yourself because its AWEFULL, then ill be happy.

Now recently i went on a training course for Blackberry and i was amazed that despite previously owning a curve there was SO much i didnt know about what you can do with blackberry.. Things like syncing ITunes..(shut up people who say you cant cos you can, IVE DONE IT..) Have you people actually used 'Device manager'?

                So really to sum up..

                1) if you want a phone that EVERYONE wants and that unless your a fairly stocky chap some jobsworth will try to steal from you at some point, buy a Storm. Dont buy an Iphone because your a toff and you think its cool.

2)if its e-mail mainly you want then go for blackberry.. if its web browsing then go for Iphone.

                3) if like me you enjoyed when iphone 2g came out because not many people at all had one, but now are getting increasingly annoyed that every tom dick and harry have one, Buy Blackberry.

                4) to be fair, Blackberry has only really taken off BIS wise because of Paris Hilton and other idiots have made it 'COOL' to have a blackberry.. So now if i get a girl of around 14 or 15 coming into my store with her parents and i hear her say 'i like, wanna like, blackberry like, mummy like.. It infuriates me and i ask why do you want a blackberry then? and she goes 'errr cos of facebook'.... GROW UP!

I know this just seems like a rant and i suppose it is, just PLEASE judge this handset for yourself before returning it and dont just act on what you read.. like i was gonna.. lol

                Peace

This phone is great to look at and very bad to use. The touch screen doesn't react nearly quick enough and often causes the user to repeat pushing / clicking, if this happened with normal buttons you would just take it back. Secondly, as soon as you use the physical buttons (at the bottom) immediately after using the touch screen, they don't react straight away and again you find yourself pushing 2/3 times to get it to respond.

First day using it in the office, the battery lasted 7 hours, if you are a heavy user, it won't work for you.

Mine has gone back and i'm carrying on with the solid trustworthy E65

The buttons on the front will peel off easily with a finger nail, no way they will last 18months at 2000min / month of usage.

The Voice dialing is absolutely useless, a totally redundant feature in my opinion. Its essential if you have an in-car system and need to call people on the move, yet 9/10 times it just wouldn't recognise the name being said, not even close, yet a 3 year old nokia does it everytime.

When receiving a call this phone vibrates once and then rings about 5 seconds later. If you don't want to miss calls don't buy it. I tried ringing it myself several times and it only starts actually making any noise after the callers 3rd ring, people normally put down after 4th or 5th, by which time you have only actually heard it ring once or twice. Don't get a phone which makes people think you're not available to talk to!

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2008Legally you have a 14 day period in which to return the phone!Yup! Regardless of where you bought it from (the channel) you should be able to return it. That's good of Vodafone. On O2UK, if you use the SIM, that's it, you won't be able to return it, as per their T&C.

I purchased mine in store, so I returned it in store. No hassle whatsoever.

Bottom line for me is, "you want to like the phone", but it's just a big let down.

I'll give it a month or two. When I take a trip back to a Vodafone shop, and see it's been improved, then I may take out an 18 month contract with them.

I can't see myself using the device for a week even!

After returning the device, I had a play with the Bold. Yeah, it was definitely the logical step from the Curve. It was so fast I wanted to cry. LoL

Still, BlackBerry for messaging, iPhone for media and everything else. Want a good camera? Get a Nokia N-series phone or C-Series Sony Ericsson.

I might end up waiting for another month or two to see what the market has to offer. I've been disappointed too many times this past few months.

HTC Touch HD - Good on paper, not that good in use. But, I hate to say this, it's certainly more usable than the Storm.

BlackBerry Bold - No complaints, aside from the, price!

BlackBerry Storm - Why oh why did you have to suck so much? :( Taking photos, well, after clicking the button, it took 3 seconds before it actually took the photo. WORST SHUTTER LAG EVER for a mobile device.

Apple iPhone 3G - Still a bit too expensive, or worth it as an upgrade from a 1st Gen iPhone.

                                    ---

I played around with a Sony Ericsson xPeria... I was surprised! The screen, was beautiful, although it was small (for one that has 800 by 480 resolution!). The built was excellent! The OS for a windows mobile device was very snappy! Yet again, it's just too expensive...
