Sorry if you don't agree Mr Anonymous, it's a free world and I am simply just airing my view that the Storm wasn't for me (I hope that's ok with you sir)....and if you read other people's comments, I am not the only one. If you like the Storm, then good for you...I guess it's like Marmite, you'll either love it or hate it.

just played with this,
its ok the design and shape is a bit weird,
interface is ok,
this may have more features than an iphone but it lacks that user experience, which the iphone has.
and its not as responsive.

Sorry to say but Blackberry have really messed up! In trying to mimic and compete with the iphone they tried to be something they're not, and tarnished their reputation in the process. Leave the touch screen to apple and concentrate on emails!

This phone has so many bad reviews. BB did try to create some hype on this phone such as the "real iphone killer", too bad that it didn't live up to its hyped expectation. I'd like to believe that it couldn't be that bad, but consistently reading a bad review after another cannot be lightly ignored. Is it too early to say that this phone is a total failure?

Do not buy this phone!I had mine for one day and i took it straight back.The battery sucks,browsing the net is so so slow and mine froze up when playing videos.I now have iphone 3g and this is much better!

I kept the Storm less than 24 hours! The screen was brilliant the best on a mobile by far, but the build quality was appalling, gap all round the screen very weak and loose keys. Wifi aside this handset also has too many key features missing, including no radio no geo-tagging, no video call. What could have been a great device misses the mark by no small amount, and Blackberry have damaged their reputation by building something to oblige Vodafone, without really paying attention to basic issues.

Every phone when it first comes out has problems... but are there any major faults with this phone that are consecutive throughout the whole stock of the storm, or are they just select to a few unlucky storm phone owners??

Quite like the phone, but the battery is dire. Cant live with the phone with such a short life - and thats just using it as a phone so far.

So you'll see differences are not those. I see it more as being BB has push email whereas iphone has pull, BB is capable of mms, iphone is not and BB has Bluetooth for voice as well as file transfer.

there is not o... moreTalking cars is not the 'cool' thing, what it does is put it into a parallel about brands. Porsche, Rim, Windows, google, apple etc.
If you get a duff Porsche (which you dont!) sure you take it back, actually they pick it up, give you a courtesy car at the same time and I bet kiss ur Aston! They dont say we've havent got anymore in stock and wait for a few weeks/months. To compare windows is the joke! Microsoft spend months in user groups getting consumer wish lists, shut engineers in dark rooms for weeks building something, get it beta tested for another few months then release it for some 15yr old hacker in 'Barnsley' to beat the system then release a new service pack. Vodafone ultimately release the phone what they spec in conjunction with RIM, the same phone they released in Germany (2-1) just a few months back and still havent ironed out issues for the uk market with no changes. They did not learn from this and would disagree that they have released it on purpose to us with faults to market, they think that they are big enough to take the hit, especially before Christmas, their biggest market in the whole year! This actually devalues both RIM and Vodafone brands. Short term gain over lost customers, long term brand image. Pity they didnt get a 15yr old called Hanz from Frankfurt on their team a few months back......

there is not one single piece of man made engineered hardware or software that does not have its fault. you are talking like vodafone purposely made a handset that has faults. windows xp, vista, were made with faults, its not until customers have the products and are used in the real world that manufacturers see what needs to be tweaked with etc.
i have my storm here, its a superb phone, have had it 5 days now, and it has not once gone wrong. if it does, it gets replaced.
now if your "911" breaks, do they replace it? no, they repair it. so stop comparing a completely irrelevant subject to a phone. you probably thought you would comes across as being cool when you wrote that piece.

Putting it in 'man terms' analogy:-
Porsche started making the 911 in 1964 and are now upto the 997, you can get a GT2 for around £131k fully loaded 523bhp, 0-60 in 3.6secs etc, the 'storm' is vodafones 911. You could have an Aston Martin DBS for £160k, Ferrari F430 v8 for £138k, Audi R8 for £78k- the list goes on. What I am hearing here is, 'give it two to three months and the software/firmware will make everything ok and stop whinging'. Who would seriously buy a 911 walk out of the showroom to be told by a salesman 'theres just a few teething problems and we had to put the Fiat Panda engine in on this batch, the original engine is still in the work shop. 54bhp should be good enough for the school run for the next few months or so'. This just would not happen in the real world, but why do people talk about it like this is ok? Its ok because this is their 1st attempt at touch screen? The screen should be ok for the next 2yrs or so? The buttons can be replaced if they should happen to drop off by lunch time? You dont really need a proper flash anyway?
What sort of muppets do RIM take us all for, why do vodafone sell us this Fiat Panda and be happy to take our cash month after month? Do either have a concious, I am sure that they dont and have a years supply of horlicks on hand to sleep at night to do so? Why do the muppets on this forum think all of this is ok, just because RIM have made good handsets before? Get a reality check ppl! If you already have one (and probably stuck with it now) your gonna like and tell everyone else that its ok to 'drive' a Panda when youre paying 911 money otherwise you will look an even bigger fool than were all being made of already.

I said exactly the same... I got the S... moreOh man. How do I start this. Well... Sheesh... This phone... How I wanted to like it so much...
From a BlackBerry Curve, getting used to those keyboard shortcuts, the efficiency, the ultra-quick responses that your recipients love. It was a dependable device, and one of the best I've ever owned.
Was I wrong in thinking that one can only move forward? To sum it all up, the BlackBerry Storm 9000 was one BIG disappointment. DSA was on the ball all along. Being human as I am, LoL, I just had to "experience" the darn thing.
The least that they could have done was MATCH the speed of the iPhone. Yet, it does not even come close. You will get more done with the iPhone, regardless if it can't multi-task, since switching applications on the Storm was a nightmare.
I spent a few days playing with it. Biggest issues about it?
1. Overall experience SLOWER than a BlackBerry 8700.
2. Coverage was poop. Literally. It was non-existent.
3. The battery, puts SHAME to the BlackBerry name. Slow to charge, fast to deplete.
4. Yeah it does have a huge screen, but what's the use when the keyboard takes over 60% of the real estate.
It was as if the device was using BETA software and Vodafone just decided to brand it everywhere!
1. GPS didn't work.
2. The Applications Center didn't work.
3. The phone took 3.5 minutes to boot up. Compared to others at 2.5 minutes.
The device was just a step back in all categories.
Such a pity, since I loved the SCREEN! It was just beautiful, yet the clickable frame, just does not cut it for a BlackBerry. The built was excellent (save for the movign screen). It felt good to use.
Apologies to dsa for ever doubting his words.
I gave my iPhone to a friend as a gift (his idea), and I am stuck with my trusty old Curve. What should I go for next...? :(

get iphone for touch screen or Bold if you want blackberry
What a let down, waited months for the Storm and gave it back after 3 days...shockingly bad !!!!!
