i have had the phone since friday and thinks fantastic! i have not yet had any problems with it and think the screen has got to be the best point about it! there will be software updates for the phone, so for all the people that are saying its slow hold fire before slagging it off,

to be fair, the iphone only has two major disadvantages that i know of in comparison to the storm. and that would be the lack of bluetooth and the fact that the iphone doesnt have the capacity for a qwerty keyboard.....unless there is an app for it...but apart from the bluetooth they are pretty much the same. btw you CAN sync both with itunes.....so its just a case of asking whether or not you need bluetooth....

I have had extensive experience with both the Blackberry Storm and the Apple iPhone.

iPhone Pros: great design, amazing user interface, pinch technology, the best internet interface on a mobile phone, app store (where a million and one games and applications are downloadable), WiFi, multi-touch, very responsive, glass screen (making it hard, if not impossible to scratch - i have just ran a safety pin across the screen of an iPhone 2G...try it on ur phone and see if it doesn't leave a mark!) and much more (feel free to add...)

iPhone Cons: no SMS forwarding, no data bluetooth transfer, no picture messaging (pics may be viewed through the iPhone browser), 2mp camera, no video recording (though there are 3rd party applications that enable this), non removable battery, relatively poor battery life.

Storm Pros: nice design, video recorder, removable battery, good sound quality, nice large HD screen,

Storm cons: flash isn't really a "flash", it's an LED light, firmware very unstable, slow response time, accelerometer very slow and annoying; every time I take the phone out my pocket the screen is the wrong way round!, more energy than necessary is needed to press the gel screen, no Bluetooth,

Blackberry, please please, please make adjustments and improvements to this device because I was loosing sleep before it's launch really excited by it and when I played with it I was HUGELY disappointed.

my screen was stuck to this so called gel and because of this i couldnt use the phone. i had to use my nails to lift the screen. I had to do this for everytime i typed something. Imagine the time it took me to type my password let alone a text!!!
They should have stuck to the iphone type screen.

have to agree, phone could have been so exceptional but after 4 days of ownership i`ve told them to come and collect, fails at everything it sets out to do.

Wait 3 months until they have fixed the software then step in.

I got a Storm today on approval. First impressions are that it only has one notable problem which no one else seems to have mentioned. Guys, look at the four keys at the bottom of the handset, you can very easily break them as they are so flimsy, they lift up, and surely will not be durable long term, unless you are more than careful. Other than that the UI seems great, I am not getting any slowness, or inaccuracy. Do think the phone has some notable omissions though. Excluding the wifi debate as it comes data bundled the camera is basic and has no geo-tagging, there is no radio, no video calling, no TV out, and no handwriting recognition. Judge for yourselves how useful or not each is depending on your usage but I would have liked to have seen a bit more packed in for it to live up to its looks. Screen clarity is simply excellent, probably the best I have seen on a mobile.

And No BES support as yet which is useless....also BIS doesn't work if your Exchange server is behind an ISA firewall. The BIS issue is a Vodafone UK problem, Vodafone New Zeland and Australia have no issues with it.

It's a good phone in it's way, iPhone killer?

Interface is a bit slow, the screen doesn't have the richness of colour that 16M colour screens have.

The zoom function feels clunky after the iPhone (so far nothing remotely approaches the multitouch zoom of the iPhone).

                                    Things in it's favour.

It will be sold with unlimited Internet and Email use, which because of the Blackberry infrastructure is fairly fast and doesn't use much data, things like Facebook have push enabled for notifications etc.

Instant messaging is probably the best of any phone (apart from other Blackberries).

DIVX support, you don't have to re-encode movies etc.

                                    Fairly good camera 3.2 Megapixel.

The keypad is good, you know when you are pressing things.

32GB memory cards are supported (when they become more available).

I can honestly say this is the worst phone I have ever had! Its slow, not user friendly, the screen keeps changing from portrait to landscape, the texting is a nightmare, trying to play brick breaker just doesn't work on touch screen, and the battery life is awful. However, it does look very nice!!!! Got this phone when it came out and as you probably guessed, have already taken it back.... and changed for the bold. Admittedly it doesn't look as nice, but it works much better....I have been very disappointed by this phone. Good luck to anyone that buys this...if you get the chance, I suggest trying it out in a shop before buying!!!!

Anthony, 15 Nov 2008does the storm comes with a sim card slot?I had the storm on saturday (the day after the release date) and I have to say its not all that we hoped!
My screen kept on getting stuck and because of this I couldn't use the phone.
Vodadfone have sent a replacement which is due tomorrow so lets see how that goes.

When however my phone was working I found it to be slow... very slow compared with the I Phone.
Overall I will give it another shot and will update you later.
