Torch is nice but the phone hangs. battery is 1 and 1/2 days.Iphone does not get stuck- battery is also 1 and 1/2 day.Dont compare blackberry to Iphone. Blackberry is more for Business and professional who want to be in touch all the time on email.Iphone is
more a casual phone.Use the Mobile me on the iphone and the mails will get pushed to you like the blackberry

Hi, i have seen and held the BB9800 in my hands, and i must add that this mobile is HEAVY. I have the BB8900 which is much lighter than the Torch, and i am extreamly happy with it. I like the look, and the new Operating system is awsome on the Torch. RIM: PLEASE CAN YOU DO ANYTHING REGARDING THE SOUND/VOLUME ON THE TORCH. IT IS SOFT AND I HEARD IT FOR MY SELF. My BB8900 is much louder. The other thing is, doesn't the Torch come out with a Battery Saver Pounch like the ones for the BB8900 & BB9700? Your pouches are real life savers for the Battery. I am due for an upgrade next year March, and i hope my comment has come to the ears of RIM regarding the Sound/Volume. I am hard at hearing but my 8900 is LOUD.

I like the torch but my friend is trying to talk me out of it, and to get a iphone. Has anyone had both and can say which they like better? Not a gamer, but I heard the pictures suck on the torch that you can see the mp and it's not a true mp. My friend is an I.T. guy.

fgh, 26 Oct 2010tnxxx for your full description. whats the different betwee... morethere is no physical difference as both are email, the advantage of the push service is that you get an alert on your handset to let you know you have a new email also the ability to view/edit/forward/add attachments to the email if desired. it basically saves the hassle of signing in on a computer and sifting through your emails to find what you need. other handsets offer this service without the need for s specific service to be active but unfortunately their batteries cannot handle this service being active for prolonged periods. overall blackberries are a near perfect product. they dont offer the most advanced in mobile technology but what they do offer works perfectly. alot of people unfairly compair blackberry to the likes of iphone, android and other smartphones due to the lack of technological advance but they also fail to see the keye points and advantages that blackberry handsets also offer over such handsets.
overall if you are unable to get full service from a blackberry handset in your country it may be a wasted purchase but hopefuly soon you'l be able to share the blackberry love.
hope this helps you :)

fgh, 26 Oct 2010I read somewhere in GSMArena that bb doesnt support email w... moreIt's true that push services like social networking apps and email do require a BIS account. Any feature requiring connection to a BlackBerry server need a BIS account to activate the PIN. If you don't have BIS (BlackBerry Internet Services) you won't be able to use social networking apps, push email or navigate on the internet. However, with wifi you can use apps that don't need BIS, but it won't have push services. Emails, chats, internet surfing, all of that will need a wifi connection. Using apps like Nimbuzz for chats, Opera Mini and Bolt Browser for internet, will allow you to use features over wifi. There's an app I've heard of called ShangMail for getting emails over wifi. Check out which apps you could use over wifi only before purchasing the device.

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2010i love how the guy said that the battery on his 9700 drains... moreAgreed! Any mobile phone that has full-time internet connections, 3G, and so many features and lasts more than 1 full day of heavy usage, is a great device. The Bold 9700 is supposed to be the BlackBerry with the BEST battery life.
I had the Curve 8520 and bought the 9550 about a month ago, and the Curve had way better battery life. I still get one full day of heavy usage, but I do have to plug my Storm in by 11pm. The Curve got me all the way through to the next morning, but the Storm has a larger screen, 3G and is a CDMA device, which CDMA devices usually have worse battery life than GSM devices.
I heard that the Torch has horrible battery life, barely getting people through a work day. Of course, it takes a few days to "condition" the battery. I would've bought the Torch instead of the Storm but I fell in love with the SurePress screen. Too bad I'm not getting BB6 though.

i love how the guy said that the battery on his 9700 drains fast and hes scared if he gets the torch it will be the same.. According to him, his 9700 only last "2 days" and he doesnt think its enough.... Buddy, i think if your phone last 2 days without charging then thats one hell of a pruduct!

The BB Torch is a superb phone, drop-dead gorgeous, fun to use.
Typing is easy with either the physical
Keyboard or touchscreen.
I've been using one for a month now and its like I fall in love with it all over again each day.
The new OS 6.0 is awesome.
This is the best BB till date.
Everyone knows the BB Bold 9700 is a very good phone but comparing it to the Torch is like comparing a 1980 Volkswagen Beatle to a 2010 Ferrari.
I have only two issues against the Torch
1, It is expensive (like Ferrari...LOL)
2, The battery life sucks (can't last 2 days)
Sometimes I had to charge 2 times in 1 day (RIM pls take note).
May be its me, may be its bcos I touch the Torch all day...LOL.
Question: with what I know now would I buy the Torch all over again?
Answer: YES!

The reviews I have read all seem very luke warm about this handset and the specs seem to confirm the "professional" views. How is it then in relaity most purchaser / users seem to be very impressed and happy with their choices, or is it just ego defence. Anyone care to explain why the handset is as good as claimed? What is the call volume like, how is the organiser, do threaded sms look a bit more involving then in OS 5?
