I love what Fairphone is doing, but I don't understand why there's no minijack on this device.

I get that there's a work around by using an additional piece of hardware, but that's a really big deal. It's additional cost, and it's another thing to carry around and potentially lose.

I would expect that with a device like this, they could even make it optional/user installable, but no. We get the dongle treatment.

                Accidental double post.

I'm all for longevity a... morei saw in one of their previous promotional material video fairphone does advocate for keeping the phone you already are using which technically include second hand phones also. they are just selling you something that is already made with sustainable materials and made ethically, if you think about it you are enabling companies who are blocking repair and the unethical process their phone undergo because those who sell their phone as second hand most likely upgraded, or maybe not cuz the phone is already made might as well use it cuz elctronics degrading not being used is also a waste. nothing is stopping the average consumer for not willing to pay for the fairphone price that has zero slave labor and even as a relatively small phone company.

lol @ $600 for midrange specs. I'm all for longevity and repairability but It's sad that they are taking advantage of it to hike the price. At this point, I'll just buy used, year-old flagship phones each time. It's cheaper, better value wise and helps the environment as much.

But why would you learn something and be smart when you don't have to struggle and talk s...! Is easier,.right?

Xiaomi... moreHonestly sounds like you know nothing about Xiaomi if you mention them like that lol, Xiaomi only earn a couple Euros on each of the phones they sell, that's the reason phones of the Poco series for instance can even exist with the hardware they have. How do you think the phones can have nearly the same specs as a phone that costs more than 1000€ from other manufacturers?

Damn, people really are going to buy anything at any price as long as it's "green".
I think I should start my own brand, "FairestPhone", made with cardboard and thrown out components from random devices found in the trash (whoops, might actually get a half-decent spec-sheet there, maybe I should collect them and then wait for a year or two), only 2000$ guys, but it's for the planet and working conditions of employees, so buy my shit if you're not an horrible disgusting slaver.

It's a real shame that Fairphone doesn't ship their phones outside Europe. I'd so love to own one for real. The price might sound absurd to most people, but really... show me a brand new smartphone that has five year warranty. You'd be lucky to get two years on other brands. The lack of headphone jack is quite a bummer, but that won't bother me much since I only play my favourite music at home via my HiFi speaker.
