Fairphone does the right move staying with Android 11 longer given they promise atleast 5 years of support.

If they've got such good software support then why is this still on 11

      That's 2 versions out of date. 😂

I have the fone from October 2021 and so far it been great no problems with the fone battery is good the camera is very fine just good for day to day pictures and yh display is good for day to day use and media consumptions too and also the fone is just fast enough for 95% of people therefore if the phone is available in your region and you want something different and something with a smaller eco foot print just go for the FP 4 people

A perfect fairphone would be to me, with own environment of choice, google or its own, something line one plus but not chinese and modular.

Callie Chaotic, 19 Nov 2022Because US service providers for some reason don't sup... moreSame reason many awesome US manufacturers do not export to the EU, taxes and stuff. But yeah, good to know from an FP4 owner: Screen got scratched after 2 weeks, deep scratches, not gorilla 5 definitely. Light usage though. Sound is very nice that htey've done it stereo but listening to music is same as listening a kids toy doll singing, it just sucks, no double tap-wake up function. Clean android in google environment, even the messages app, not much to tweak and adjust. Other than that, awesome phone, love the built and weight, and fixability. If they fix the above, I will deffinitely buy the next one or the one after or whatever comes when I want to upgrade.

why is this phone better than my android

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2022Why don't they ship outside the EU? I'm in the US... moreBecause US service providers for some reason don't support the make. There are alternatives for US users that aren't available in EU. Yes, different makers and specs but if it's the modular make you are looking for then that is covered.

As much as I truly love this phone's stupidly easy repairability and parts replaceability, I don't want to see Fairphone remove the headphone jack for the sake of worthless TWS earbuds. That further increase the carbon footprint and not repairable, hence totally defeating the whole point of sustainability. There's no need to follow everything that Apple has done. Not all things they did are great.

Spark, 12 Aug 2022Can anyone who was this phone tell me some things about it.... more1) Not really, at least not out of the box. You can, however, use some app like WaveUp (wake the phone using proximity sensor), Gravity Gestures or Automate (e.g,. using Motion Gesture block). I used WaveUp for a while, but the proximity sensor has a few issues (mainly on direct sunlight), so I just gave up and use the power button. Also neither of those apps provide as convenient experience as Motorola phones do. I previously had Moto Z2 Play and I really miss the Moto Display and gestures (camera and flashlight). I'm definitely not trying to discourage you. But just so you know.

                          2) You go to the recent apps view, long press on the app icon and then either press "Split screen" or "Freeform", depenging on what you want to do. I think the freeform option first needs to be enabled in the developer settings, but it's no big deal and it works fine.

                          3) I usually just scroll through Twitter, check weather, play some light games, and I also have my smartwatch permanently connected over Bluetooth. I get solid 2 days.

Tips: Before you buy the phone, read about currently present bugs (https://forum.fairphone.com/t/known-reproducible-and-reported-issues-of-the-fairphone-4/82572). Most of them are no big deal but I guess some of them could be a dealbreaker for some people.

Both are stock android phone with long software support and good company too support that more moral then most companies

The big advantage fair phone 4 does have is after 2 years you can easily change the battery so longer live in of the phone in long run

The possibility of going on sale is main advantage for Nokia x30 and something too keep a eye out for

It's unfortunate the Nokia 9.3 was never made :( as it would of been a flagship opinion instead of midrange

It's possible alternative phone opinions might happen Nokia makes a lot of phones ever year

                                  Cheap it is

The removable battery will definitely save you from a lot of hassle for sure and in theory it should be cheaper in the long run

                                  For comparison sake

                                  The Nokia 9 pureview
Snapdragon 845 then Snapdragon 850g in fairphone 4 has a higher scores in both benchmarks and gaming

The fairphone does have more ram 8gb ram Nokia 9 pureview only got 6gb ram

I should include the Nokia x30
It's a step up from Nokia other mid range phones with oled 90hz screen that is standard today

Again the trap of wrong processors for given price category neither a slow phone and both have long software su

Some worse than others xiaomi being the worsed for this

There is a lot of bad going on in the Chinese factorys so yeah I also don't support them or buy there phones either but I do try too be realistic as possible when compare phones

This is not a chinese crapp, that has sollten everything and selling your privacy... just saying. Can anyone who was this phone tell me some things about it.

                                      1. Is there any way to wake up the screen without using the power button or volume buttons? Like double tap the screen on samsung, or hover over/ lift up on Motorola? I'm on motorola for years and got us to this peek display on it. tried a sony 10 iv for a few days and it drove me mad that it had noting to wake up the screen.

                                      2. How do you activate multitasking/multiwindow ? On Motorola you just slide right/left in the middle of the screen and the current application minimizes and you can open another one. On the sony 10 iv i could nout find a good way to open except the predefined linkd apps but didn't research it to much.

                                      3. how is battery life on it in real life?

Any other tips and tricks ?

I really like this phone for the sustainability aspect of it, and i'm not such a power user but i just got used with some things and it would drive me crazy no to have them.

is missing a few things that prevent it from being a good long term phone
remember this phone is expressive so flagship expectation

                                        in 2022 should have
                                        oled 120hz screen

This is all the Fairphone needed too do too make the hardware good
good software is huge strong point but hardware needs too hold up

Design problems and bad chooses made by Fairphone am very upset with
no headphone jack the notch really on a phone like this not having a changer in the box

Surely people who buy this phone are not ok with fairphone ear buds without removable batterys in them in a few years they die and become e-waste

Please Fairphone 5 have flagship hardware & changer in box

mid range chipsets don't age well at all and new versions of android will need better hardware newer versions of android are very resource hungry and hard to run well or smooth and future apps will need better hardware then what is normal today
