This is not a chinese crapp, that has sollten everything and selling your privacy... just saying. It's actually cheap, and this if we're only taking about how much work was invested in creating such a device while letting all other factors asside, that are by no means insignificant, rather highly important in this day and age.

Can anyone who was this phone tell me some things about it.

    1. Is there any way to wake up the screen without using the power button or volume buttons? Like double tap the screen on samsung, or hover over/ lift up on Motorola? I'm on motorola for years and got us to this peek display on it. tried a sony 10 iv for a few days and it drove me mad that it had noting to wake up the screen.

    2. How do you activate multitasking/multiwindow ? On Motorola you just slide right/left in the middle of the screen and the current application minimizes and you can open another one. On the sony 10 iv i could nout find a good way to open except the predefined linkd apps but didn't research it to much.

    3. how is battery life on it in real life?

Any other tips and tricks ?

I really like this phone for the sustainability aspect of it, and i'm not such a power user but i just got used with some things and it would drive me crazy no to have them.

UNKNOWN soldier , 02 Aug 2022With everything they offer only one thing is on their way..... moreThe fairphone 4
is missing a few things that prevent it from being a good long term phone
remember this phone is expressive so flagship expectation

      in 2022 should have
      oled 120hz screen
      snapdragon 888 & at least 8gb ram
This is all the Fairphone needed too do too make the hardware good
good software is huge strong point but hardware needs too hold up

Design problems and bad chooses made by Fairphone am very upset with
no headphone jack the notch really on a phone like this not having a changer in the box

Surely people who buy this phone are not ok with fairphone ear buds without removable batterys in them in a few years they die and become e-waste

Please Fairphone 5 have flagship hardware & changer in box

mid range chipsets don't age well at all and new versions of android will need better hardware newer versions of android are very resource hungry and hard to run well or smooth and future apps will need better hardware then what is normal today

mariubrlu, 30 Sep 2021Why do you people still cry about the museum headphone jack... moreAnalog sound is the best for audio listening.

Sin, 07 Jul 2022That's a really good deal for customers who bought it ... more2015 - iPhone 6s. Still running, battery changed twice since then.

But Fairphone is the best choice for Android land. You can root it and run custom ROMs too, but I don't have unprotected sex with strangers.

For everyone who's interested, this video is about the Android 10 upgrade for the Fairphone 2:

              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PejWyVSjcV0&t=115s

I am curious whether they come up with a Fairphone 4+ this year just like they introduced the Fairphone 3+ in 2020, with some camera upgrades. The best part was that when you already owned a Fairphone 3 but you wanted the upgraded 3+ camera, you could easily buy and replace a new Fairphone 3+ camera module for your Fairphone 3 one. Brilliant.

Really good software support the long life this phone makes it really good value for money
a phone you don't need too replace for long time

I do think the fairphone 2 was one of the best flagship phone chooses back in 2015
most of top end phones got only 2 android version updates

it is a real shame the snapdragon 800 even so the one of the best processors
has not aged well being a 32bit processors is the main problem with it and only 2gb ram & 32gb storage is rough
thank goodness it didn't have mid range specs of 2015

back then when the fairphone 2 was fairly new i ended up buying a yotaphone 2 another brand that tryed too future proof
Has same hardware specs snapdragon 800 2gb ram & 32gb storage

The yotaphone 2 did have a oled screen on front and e-ink screen on back
was a android 4 smartphone but updated too android 6

The yotaphone is a long battery smartphone that trys have best possible battery life from using the e-ink screen too safe battery but can game and do normal flagship phone stuff on the oled screen
I liked the yotaphone 2 so much i ended up buying a second one next year

sadly the yotaphone want bankrupt :(( and my old yotaphone 2 stuck on android 6 :((
and the yotaphone 2 is really struggling with gaming in 2022 it's still holding out in 2022 but games only run min setting just barely even in the browser its slowed down so much and the hardware so worn out but the oled screen holds up well even today
had too do one battery change too

what phones did people buy back then and how well did they last ?

First - is the camera able to snap documents clearly inside buildings? And if one were to use this in a 4g-only country will it still work?

For starters, an entry level phone definetily isn't going to have 5G.

This has midrange specs and the cost of a flagship.

You pay more for the warranty it will last at least 5 years, for the updates during this period (Fairphone 2 received 5 updates, it went from android 5 to 10), for the fact is modular and thus easy and cheap to repair and upgrade, for the fact workers will be payed a decent salary and that they will be not overworked children in an asian factory, for the fact materials are recycled and sustainable and not conflict minerals that fund violence in under developed countries, for the fact pollution will be minimal and for the fact the company invests the money in projects that will make the planet a better place.

They are not getting rich selling these phones. Fair phone 2 was sold for 525$ and their margin was 9$, one of the lowest profit margins in the industry (maybe only Xiaomi had a lower profit margin when they tried to enter diverse markets, which they succeeded).

So it never be great value for money but they should at least make a good smartphone
for some reason FairPhone fans people don't understand fairphone is a monopoly in the modular market
faiphone is abusing there monopoly power this is why the fair phone don't sell well

if fairphone was a real flagship it might be far more mainstream
most people want a smartphone that they can change the battery in and would like for there smartphone to be cheap to fix if it was too break
its not NICHE too want a smartphone like this

Carol, 29 May 2022I find this release way better ballanced then the Fairphone... moreYes of course side by side a 2013 smartphone no match for a 2021 smartphone

Yes of course the fairphone 2 rather slow by today standards despite that they choose to put in the flagship processer of it's year

It's a really good thing it has a Snapdragon 800 and not a mid range a Snapdragon 600 that really aged badly

Now we have the fairphone 4 2021 I think the Snapdragon 888 was the best processer of the year if am not mistaken
However this time they only put in a Snapdragon 750
This time we still pay flagship price but have a mid range chipset

Also we got too as wonder how good is the Snapdragon 750 after 5 years

This is why I say fairphone used to be a good brand but are not anymore on top of design choices I disagree with
