Sin, 12 May 2022I like repairable & upgradeable smartphones I really ha... moreI find this release way better ballanced then the Fairphone 2. Numbers are not everything and so is the CPU version. The CPU in this device is miles ahead of the SD800, so why was that one great and this one is poor? Even tough is faster and everything in it is just better? They also invested in better design, screen, cameras, modularity and managed to deliever an almost 100% eco-friendly fair produced device, only that should cost more then any other smarphones. Fair paid workers and eco-friendly Recycling is non existent in the smarphone world, plus 5 years of updates and well let's not forget that it is made to install whatever android fork you trust. Yeah, the missing headphone jack is kind of a bummer, i also have the impression that they just went with the flow on some deign decision parts, notch included. Some people like that, some don't. No company can satisfy all peoples perception of fine design, no matter how much they try, there will always be someone that will call it ugly.... as for the price... Well as i have said, i find it ok priced for the fact that the effort is way higher then any other manufacturer does and that Fair does not come cheap and they also need profit to be able to evolve or manufacture such devices. So yes, the price is not spicy because of modularity but because of a whole lot of other factors. If you want modulatity with lesser fairness in production and so on, you can look for SHIFT6mq, not the best desing but well it has SD845 and amoled.

AnonD-1048858, 23 May 2022What is the battery like on this thing owners please?Decent - would need to be a very heavy user to not make it through a full day. I get closer to 36 hours with medium-heavy use. User replaceable battery helps if this is considered short.
Camera image software refinement was poor upon purchase but has improved. If your WiFi has dual 2.4ghz/5ghz you're better off splitting these (i.e. so would show as separate 2.4 and 5ghz networks) as it can struggle with switching between these bands seamlessly

Carol, 01 May 2022Your comment makes no sense and by the way, this device is ... moreI like repairable & upgradeable smartphones I really hate that smartphones are hard to repair and come out dated
I think all smartphone should have a good ifixit rating most brands should be blamed for user unfixable smartphones
The problem with fairphone is a smartphone that is easy too repair shouldn't come at the cost of performance especially considering buyers plan to keep there smartphone for 5 years
The fairphone 2 had a Snapdragon 800 and was a flagship smartphone fairphone used to make good smartphones but has become unfriendly too buyers who most likely love the headphone jack and hate the notch know design choices people don't like

Perfect phone for me, a bit thick though but nevertheless this is a unique concept I like it very much. Maybe in the future they can come out with a battery that has a bigger capacity with the same dimensions so you can easily replace it, that is absolutely the best part of removable batteries and more companies should go back to replaceable batteries imo.

For something like that, there are a lot of chinese brands that pop'ed up like mushrooms after a rainy day. If you do not understand the Fairphone, you literally have nothing to comment here...

1: modular
2: fair
3: long term warranty
4: definite buy
Other brands only want profit and profit and profit so I think this brand is the best alternative for any other phone. From all those dozens of new phone brands in the past 6/7 years this is the only one that's really adding something new to the branch.

Been using this phone for about 6 weeks. The reason to buy this Fairphone and not another brand is the way they produce this device with their sourcing and with the environment and human rights in mind. Also I got a box with the phone to return my old phone so it can be recycled. So far this is the only brand that works this way so for me it was kinda easy choice and besides I can r pair it myself, also I am a handyman so it's not at all difficult to do. Probably the battery change sometime in the future is the only thing that needs to be replaced because I use the phone for browsing, watching vids, occasional gaming, a lot of calls, and the call quality is very much OK. One thing I do miss is the 3,5mm port but I do have a adapter from my old phone so I can use that no worries. I am happy with my Fairphone and I can surely advice the phone to anyone who is looking for a good phone with environment and human rights in mind.

Aadrian, 09 Apr 2022Most people choose with their wallet, so an environmentally... moreenvironmentally friendlier smartphones come with changers fair phone does not
1 box shipped to us is better then 2 boxs as using a third party changer is a sure way to kill your battery
smartphones don't cost much to make and need be friendly to the buyers as well
The point of the fair phone is being modular and future proof
that will make it bit more costly but fair phone can at least put a CHANGER in the box
1500 pound smartphones sell rather well look at the asu rog gaming smartphone
this a smartphone fair phone can learn a lot from
just fairphone cost to much for budget buyers but too poorly spec for someone who want to buy a future proof flagship ( don't make a mid range smartphone )
fair phone if that let us choose the os the smartphone come with would also help make the more worth it
like being able to pick from
lineage os
androidONE
sailfish os
stock android
we need a better brand like dell to make a modular alienware gaming phone
fairphone is bad because it don't have any competitors

Sin, 08 Apr 2022yes the fairphone can never match the price of its competit... moreMost people choose with their wallet, so an environmentally friendlier phone for 600 euro or a regular phone for 600 euro with better specs translates mostly into people choosing for the latter.
I don't think a modular environmentally friendly phone with flagship specs is profitable at the moment for Fairphone. They would simply sell not enough, and I think such a phone would easily cost 1500 euro if you consider the prices of the regular top tier flagships and adding costs from friendly sourcing and fabricating materials. After all Fairphone must find a compromise between profitability and specs, that's what I think. It's a small company with a rather new idea of making a smartphone.

Aadrian, 03 Apr 2022Do you have any idea why the price of this phone is higher ... moreyes the fairphone can never match the price of its competitors
making a smartphone that can be fixed is not a cheap way to make a smartphone however the reparable rating is a big deal to me
paying extra for repairable smartphone is fine just but not at the cost of performance no less then 8 line of snapdragon inside for this tier of smartphone
i just want fairphone to make flagship smartphones that can be fixed not mid range smartphones priced like flagships or make a cheap budget smartphone

Carol, 26 Mar 2022This phone is not for "price-performance" jockers... moreThis is a smartphone brand that does a lot good things but also bad things
good great software supported bad let down by poor hardware
what we really need is a future proof smartphone ( performance matters for future proofing)
i don't think any smartphone with a flagship price should have mid range specs
The point of fairphone is you can repair it and change out parts
and the only part you can't change is the first to become obsolete

I don't think you do, otherwise you wouldn't have written that comment about price. Why is 5kg regular potatoes cheaper than 5kg organic potatoes? That answers your question and pretty much everybody's question about the higher than average price.
