And when did I ever say you need new hardware every 2 years? 4-5 years would be enough for an android; 6-7 would for iPhone. But 8 years for such a device is overkill.

Nope, "nothing" fanboy, this is all about the company, what it does, what it stands for that's above any existing company, and ignorants that come here having nothing in their agenda but pure trolling. Funny tough how you s.y.p when people call Nothing phone a scrap, yet dare to go everywhere and spread your "love". Who do you think you are to tell people what to buy and like? The only thing shitty here is a nothing fanboy trolling arround other brands.
As for this phone, as i already said, the only blind here it is you, to think that hardware is a problem. You have no idea what hardware is, how it works and how it merges with the software or OS, beeing manipulated by chinese army of scrap phones into thinking that one needs new hardware to have smooth experience every 2 years, yet it is you writing your lack of knowledge everywhere you see fairphone, being blind but calling others blind. How pitifull is that?

For example a phone with Snapdragon 820 will run the PPSSPP emulator 20 years later as fast as in 2016 when the phone was released. A Symbian Nokia N82 can run Quake 3 as fast as it did in 2008.

technology is evolving very fast and i don't think the SoC here will stand after 2 years against new ones !
For the sale price you have plenty of choices with top notch SoC : NP2, S23+, zenfone 9/10 RedMagic 8, Moto 40 edge, OP11 ...

                            This is a scam.

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2023the targeted audience that buy a FF don't switch phone... moreI'm still using LG V20. It is a high-end phone with flagship specs from 2016. It has removable battery, so I've replaced the original battery to a 10500mAh one. The Arnova Advanced 1.5 Gcam 6.1 port with Night Sight takes very high quality photos which can compete with modern phones. This phone runs every emulator games at playable speed, except Dolphin and ExaGear emulators. LG V20 has unrestricted access to the filesystem, Android/data folder, even on the microSD card. The call recording works perfectly. It has camera OIS, 3.5mm jack, FM Radio, IR remote features.

The designers of Fairphone should create a successor to LG V20 with these features and latest high-end Snapdragon CPU with cooling like heat pipes.

Why there is no 3.5mm audio jack connector?

No 3.5mm audio jack, no FM Radio = no buy. It's a deal breaker.

Bought Fairphone 5, I update from Fairphone 2 which no longer gets support. Used Fairphone 2 for 7 years since March 2016, last upgrade was Android 10 and I got Android 5 out of the box.

I hope Fairphone 5 will last me even longer with more updates.
