Having a camera is an overrated luxury- main requirement is having wireless charging so one can charge the Pixel 4a and 5 minimum 3 times a day (normal daily routine for the Pixel 4)!

With new software updates to improve battery life on the Pixel 4 and reduced pricing, Google will not be risking cannibalizing their current flagship. There will be no Pixel 4a as per latest feeds, it will only be the cheaper Pixel 5 (with SD 765) launching in Oct'20 event. Battery size of Pixel 5 will be reduced to 2880 MaH as Google thinks highly of the SD765 which again may become a major bottleneck for buyers.

I was waiting for this 4a. In the meantime google donated to BLM few millions. Apple was not on the list of donnors. I am no longer interested. I am getting SE 2020.

The more this gets delayed the more the Snapdragon 730 will be DOA. They'll have to drop the price again or it's not going to sell very well at all. I'm not in marketing, but I find the decision to delay a ready to ship product several months as it becomes less capable a bit puzzling.

Pixel 4a launch postponed till Oct'20. The last insight I got was for Sep'20 but seems like Google has delayed the launch due to the following factors also reported by others here:
1) H/W Changes -No back camera, only pay-per-use filters
2) No launch in markets like Brazil, India, Europe
3) Potentially to be launched as Pixel 5 Lite version (5-SD765, 5 Lite-SD730)
